Look in the background, on the right.

Also roots and herbs.

And according to the FMV showing your first view of AO, Abe rubs his hands and belly at the sight of Paramite Pies and Scrab Cakes. That means that enslaved muds eat factory-made products, too.

But, as the picture Nate posted shows, I'd say native mudokons hunt scrabs and paramites for their natural food supply as well as plants.

However their first design (in AO and AE) was without teeth, which means that they wouldn't've been able to handle meat or anything. In the Art of Oddworld somewhere there's a concept sketch of the inside of a Mudokon's mouth. The caption mentioned their diet being composed of mainly juices and softer foods. Since teeth were added it's hard to say, though. I'm going to go out on a limb and say they're omnivores, namely hunter-gatherers.

They'd eat anything they could find, I'd say. And like we eat the food provided by factories and Supermarkets, I suppose they would too, if they were in the upper-class and lived in cities.

I believe Alf's consistently lucid and reliable answer to this particular question went along the lines of "whatever we can get!".

You can make a nice soup or stew out of the nearest Paramite.

I'm prettty sure that muds are canabals, wouldn't surprize me that much, actually.
isn't there a pic of abe serving glukuns? I that was pretty sic, even though the gluks tried to do it to the muds.

Yes there is the picture, but I think it is supposed to be food for Glukkons (shaped as a head and not actually a real head with chocolate on it). Mudokons eating each other sounds totally absurd to me.

oh ok, well I guess it's a misunderstanding.
well I was thinking more along the lines of muds being based off native tribes, such as african tribes, but reconsiderring I agree with you.
back on topic, don't muds eat meeps? or do they just graise them for their wool?
however, if they have gotten up to the stage of rasing livestock (such as elums and meeps), they probably do eat quite a bit of meat, and less of plants.
Well, at least that confirms they eat chocolate. and it's realy obvious but they drink tea too.

Muds are related to birds, so I assume they eat a fish, as many birds do. And, of course, honey! Do they cook food, I wonder? Or do they eat it raw? (Referring to natives)

I think they are herbivores/omnivores. They eat fruit and stuff, but are opportunists, and might eat meat when they get the chance. I doubt they eat scrabs and paramites, as they worship them. I dunno...Like baboons, who mainly eat fruit and stuff, but will eat meat when giving the opportunity.

Oh really?

I suppose you don't know that some indian tribe worshipped salmon as some kind of god of good-giving every spring. The first salmon landed was prayed over, roasted for everyone to try and then it's skeleton was returned whole to the river where they believed it would come alive again to provide food for next year.

I don't see why the natives wouldn't hunt scrabs and paramites-in case you haven't looked at the picture Nate posted with the mudokons hunting a scrab.

Besides, not all Muds worshiped those creatures. Certain tribes worshipped Scrabs, others worshipped Paramites and others worshipped entirely other species.

No, I dont really go around researching about people who worship fish. And I did see that picture, it was kinda hard to miss.

Incidentally, mudokons had a similar belief about the annual migration of gabbits up the Mongo. Though without the eating part, obviously.
