Exploration Galaxy
The Veritable Complex
Part I - Fargo Day
Cartwright woke up and touched his forehead, he was bleeding quite profusely from a gash just above his eye, his left arm was hurting as well but he checked and it was not broken, some of the control panel was wrecked and it fizzled and bleeped. It was dark too, thankfully, the window shutters where on and where manual overideable, he cranked the turner by and slowly the massive metal shutters opened upwards, sun light flowed into the cockpit of the spaceship and Cartwright groaned as his eyes blazed, luckily there was a cool breeze, very lucky because he had not worn any oxygen mask, as his eyes adjusted, Cartwright realised he was on a rocky planet, tinted with an orange hue, it looked Martian but it couldn't be, it wasn't.
Cartwright grabbed a handle bar on the ship ceiling and hauled himself up, the room was cramped and he had to stoop slightly before flicking the power switch, a gentle hum began but it quickly cut out, a few lights flickered and the separately powered Nav system turned on, it whirred and buzzed but Cartwright thumped it and the screen began to make sense, firstly it showed a planet, a bit bigger than earth, Fargo, a desert world out of any galaxy, mid space between the milky way and andromeda, it orbited two suns, a large one and an under orbiting parasite sun. The planet has one small dry ocean and one polar cap on the south of the planet, these places are the only inhabitable areas, a small human outpost lies in the ocean zone.
The temperature stays at a constant 40 centigrade in the day and 12 at night, the pole however is always -5 and the ocean zone fluctuates from -2 to 25 centigrade. Cartwright needed to find a new veritable complex to repair his ship, obviously, the Ocean zone would have it.
Cartwright would have to go to the Ocean zone to buy parts for his ship, he turned to the safe and found 170,000 credits, unfortunately he had know idea why he had so much money or what he was supposed to be doing. He climbed out of the cockpit through the open window and walked out into Fargo equipped only with water, money and a pistol with four shots.
