Oddysee vs exoddus

Whats your favorite oddworld game?In story line I say oddysee. The oddysee writing is more disturbing and creepy. I like that. Exoddus has some advantages too.I'll be thinking about it.

iliked some of the creatures in exodus. being able to posses glukkons paramits scrabs adn flying sligs rocked. and the quick save feature was awsome. but the storyline was so repitious i mean the mudomo and mundanchee vaults were just like the scrab and paramite temples. so i guess i would say oddysee. i also liked abes voice better in ao.

Abe's Oddysee, the original and the best. Besides being the only game I own of the series, I think it has the best story and is just more fun to play. It was completely original and I never knew what awaited me, whereas Abe's Exoddus was extremely similar to Abe's Oddysee so there weren't many new surprises.

AO. it's just hard to make any better after such a game. The storyline, abe's voice, the introduction for the first time of the characters.. it has it all!
It's also more dark, and mysterious. In AE, the quicksave can be seen both as great or not-so-great because they let you keep going easier, but then the game gets also easier. IN AO you have to try really hard just to finish the game, and then to rescue the 99 mudokons, well it was hard.

My favorite is Abe's Exoddus. It was the first Oddworld game I played... and the game that got me addicted to Oddworld.

I guess I can't really pinpoint the reason why I like it better than Oddysee. Maybe because I like the game play and the large amount of puzzles there are in the game. I also love long games... so the fact that AE is a longer game than AO may have some part. There are also more areas to explore/more hidden areas, which I really like too. Other than that just the storyline and the increased features in this game (such as quiksave and the ability to control more than one Mudokon at once).

Abe Babe...

I guess my favorite is AO.Like I said the story was better and I also like the temples more than the vaults.AE is better in some ways because of some of the creatures and quicksave.I also love the M.O.M news though. But my favs ao.There both good.

Hey Abe babe...I've always thought there were more secret areas in AO.Sure there are more mudokons to save in AE but I thought there were more out in the open.Well... I guess it's because I've saved almost every Mudokon in AO and not in AE.Your probably right.

What are some of the secret areas? I have no idea what you are talking about, maybe I have been there and never knew I was there.

Hey DaKKan...The secret areas are every where.Try crouching behind barrels and rocks.Try rolling in shadows. The first time I played I didn't get any of em.If you go to an oddworld walkthrough it tells you every secret area. The more secret areas, the more mudokons and mudokons mean the good ending. If yo find one you hear little music. Hope this helps.

They both have their good points, but if I was to pick between the two, I'd choose Abe's Oddysee.

Abe's Oddysee has a mystical feeling to it. The comedy was subtle and appropriate. Everything just seemed so unexpected and 'delightful'. Often times it was frustrating to die and have to play through the bits over and over again. 9.8 out of 10.

Exoddus was also good, the QuickSave was a great feature. The graphics had been improved. What I didn't like in Exoddus was the comedy, I thought it was overdone. But that was a small complaint and Exoddus still gets 9.4 out of 10 from me.

I liked AO more, because AE is a lot the same. But I can imagin that you would like AE more if you played that game first.

AE is much more fun(fart possesing,...), but too easy. (quicksave, bottles by every secret,...)

AO is much more mystical but sometimes a litte too hard.

I have the feeling everybody says and feels a bit the same. So if I have to pick one: AO

reasons why AO is the best

CHALLENGING - AE WAS SO PREDICTABLE
ELUM - NO COMMENT
WHISTLES - WOW, SYMPATHY REALLY BEAT THAT
LOCATIONS - MORE NATURAL INVORNMENTS
STORY - WAY WAY WAY BETTER
ABE'S VOICE - MORE HUMOUROUS THAN AE
LENGTH - IT DIDN'T TAKE 1 TURN FOR ALL 99
HOIST - BELIEVE IT OR NOT HOIST IS MUCH FASTER
SLIGS - WHEN YOU FART THEY GO "BLURGH"
NO FLEECHS - I THUNK MOST OF YOU AGREE
MUSIC TRIGGERS - WAY WAY MORE THAN AE

reasons why AE is the best
GLUKKONS - CANT GO PAST A GLUKKON
ALL'O'YA - TIME SAVER
QUICKSAVE - THOUGH THIS IS A DOWNFALL
EMOTIONS - REALITY CHECK
2 CD'S - PRETTY BIG
EASY - THOUGH THIS IS A DOWNFALL
SLOGGIES - THEIR CUTE AND YOU CAN JUMP OVER THEM
FLYING SLIGS - STUPID IDIOTS
MORE POSSESSION - MMMM SCRABS
MORE POWERS - INVISABILITY

well i think that AO is still no. 1

i wish that OWI made another type of game like the other 2, thats the reason i bought the game. NBut MO might change my mind after that and it will never happen anyway

i really disliked most of the exoddus movie clips. they were so tacky, and contained really bad jokes. i'm taking about: "Guys, Weirdos, Whatever you are!", and "Okay, I'm Afraid!", as well as the repetion of "It's that Abe Guy!". after AO, AE was a big let-down. quiksave made it far too easy. it had it's advantages, but AO was far more original, and a lot more majestic in its image. i hope OWI don't make MO as tacky as AE.

a resounding victory for AO.

You don't understand, the tacky-ness was the glue of AE, without it, It would be nothing! God, I love Tackyness, like Head of the Faily and Texas Chainsaw massacur.

AE was not tacky. I like Abe's Oddysee outdoor levels, and Abe's voice was cooler, but in AE,the story was way funnier and you could possess more stuff. Plus AE featured Slig Barracks, and the slaves had emotions.

AO= 10/10
AE= 9/10

I prefer AO just a bit better though.

i like tackyness generally, but it didn't go with oddworld. AE thought it was funnier than it was.

I never really thought the jokes in AE were really funny.I liked how the sligs acted but the other humor kinda bombed.
I guess AE was a bit more polished and the emotions were great.
But I prefer AO cause it was so dark and original.

Good lord, AO is much better than AE.

AO did have:
Better movies
Better humor (like Abe hitting his head in the barrel, still laughing at it)
Better storyline
Better places to be
More challenging

AE had:
Quicksave, made it too easy
The M.O.M news
Crawling sligs, i love those guys
Emotions
Disabled slig speak, no blueh, or hi when you talks
Glukkons

Oh, and just one more thing.... There isnt so many glukkons like it was in AE. Do you think a glukkon would walk to a teleporter when someone pulls a lever? No, neither do i.

Lets cheer for AO!!!

AE's only advantages were

flying sligs
crawling sligs
glukkons
greeters
fleeches
more areas

I think both games are great, they have the most beautiful scenarios and video sequences I've ever seen in a videogame.

But I like AO a little bit more than AE, because of the native environments(Monsaic Lines, Paramonia and Scrabania). The elum folk is also a very funny character, I love to play with Abe and elum togheter.

Of course, the quiksave feature of AE was just great, because of all hat frustrating hours redoing the whole path after dying, in AO.

AO -- 10
AE -- 9.9
