Archive or Remove old topics

To be honest I thought this system was already in place.
Topics more than a year old should be automatically locked forever.

This would solve the "posting on old threads" problem, right?

Topics more than six years old ARE locked in place, try to post in them or quote from them and you'll get a message telling you to contact an admin.

It's not much of a problem. It happens rarely, affects very little, and is easy to fix. And since I can't find an option for it, it most probably would require a hack that'll make updating vBulletin an even bigger pain in the arse.

there's been a few in FC. only ones i've noticed, and it always seems to be some hapless newbie going "OMG this is great! hope to see more! ". i can't stand the niceness. IT WAS OVER 3 YEARS OLD FUCK

considering this topic was made by AlexFili, who frequents FC, i would say the threads being revived there are what sparked this thread. but i think a lock on any thread in FC would be quite silly. people just need to learn how to use that thing they were born with, along with their eyes.

The one I know of is this thread about making a level editor, which obviously is a bit relevent since it's only now that folks are starting to work out how that might even be done.

Firstly I was wrong and it was three, secondly you're an admin so you can't see the message you doodoo head.

Yes. FC has different rules to the rest of OWF, on explicit request from Splat.

Strange. I used to see a warning message even if it didn't actually stop me from posting.

As for what guidance you could give; if someone sends you a PM, you can either post in the thread to revive it, or you can tell them to create a new thread. Is that not guidance enough for you?
