Resident Evil 5 demo:

So, I downloaded the demo today, and I fucking hate it. The partner system is a big waste of time. Online co-op is fun. Kinda. But AI? Jesus Christ, those slant eyed bastards at Capcom better get this Sheva twat under control. She wastes bullets, then bitches until I give her some of mine. She steals gold. She uses green herbs when her health is around 90%, and her fucking name is dumb. Really dumb.

Complain. Or sway me. But don't lead with "well it's a demo, and there's a warning screen about potential bugs", because I will weep. Tears of vodka. Because that's what is in me. Vodka, black stuff, and about twenty slim jims.

Maybe this should have been a blog. This is a new low point.

I didn't play with the AI, instead opting for my housemate, so I can't agree on those points. It was pretty fun I thought, tedious for a game where you die so much to boot you back to the menu every time but hey.

Fun if you have a co op partner, but you have to have one to have fun. Tried played by myself, Sheva runs into a black man wielding a chainsaw, demo ends.

Oh gods, did they cross Resident Evil 4 with Outbreak or something? Co-operative play in a survival horror game sort of defeats the purpose.

I haven't played a Resident Evil game since 2 so I can't say one way or the other. It sounds awful, though.

4 for gamecube and code veronica for the dreamcast are my favorites, i rented one for the good old PS1 back when it came out but didn't like it.

i was looking foward to 5 but not really reading about it i just assumed it would be like 4

Same exact fucking thing happened to me, DK.

First stage was fine, not scary at all, just sort of frantic since I had to juggle taking out whatever-the-fuck these new zombies are and actually moving to find ammo since I ran out in no time. No real hiccups except that near the end I was just about dry on ammo and the AI wouldn't give me any, which meant using the knife. This wouldn't be bad except for the fact the fucking zombies have to be right on you before it hits them. Otherwise enjoyable sort of.

Second stage was mostly the same, a little bit creepier since it's sort of dark and those weird-ass bats would explode out of people. Ammo was plentiful enough that it never really was a problem. But then the chainsaw fucker shows up and I don't realize he's got backup behind me until I shoot him in the eye. So we both get grabbed, both get free, and I turn to take them out while Chainsaw Guy is still groaning. Bitch decides to run for it right into CG, and promptly gets her head cut off. Demo kicks me back to menu, and I scream in frustration and cry a little bit.

It is actually fun until you realize what a problem the controls are (difficult to use inventory while in combat without getting slapped around, slow aiming speed coupled with requirement to stand in place while aiming) and how useless your AI partner is (she emptied half a clip at a single dude, I think she hit him in the foot out of luck on the last shot)

You know what REALLY bothers me about this? I still don't have a hard drive. And the demo is only 470 MB. I'm going to look for a job tomorrow.

I was really looking forward to this, shame it sucks. Tried again with co op, twice. First time I got a ten year old, he died while trying to knife the axe guy. Second I got some dude that didn't decide to talk till we got to Mr.Chainsaw, and began screaming he was going to die, upon dying, he claimed the game was wiggidy whack. Wiggidy whack indeed, Im not buying this.

I have both my step father and sister who are both into zombie/survival games so this was pretty sweet. Going from simple run n' gun shooters to this took a couple games, but once I got used to the controls it was awesome.
While you can't hit someone with your knife until they are breathing on your face, once you can, they are as good as dead. Don't try to use this melee like Gears of War or Halo, because while that is meant as a viable option over shooting in close range fights the knife in RE is a last ditch effort or ammo saver. Just spam hit the knife trigger and cut the hell out of 'the' zombie and you'll have no problems. It also borrows time if you're surrounded by a wave, hopefully long enough for your team mate to save you.
I had trouble with the slow aiming/no movement at first, but then I realized I could go to options and change it to the 'fastest' option. Again this game isn't a run n gun shooter. You shouldn't be able to just kill everything by holding down the shoot button/ammo conserving is for noobs/what are tactics?
Also the inventory has 4 slots which can be accessed via the D-pad. Anything you wanna pull out quick just move it into one of the D-pad slots. I had my pistol/machine gun/herb/grenades. Good to go.

Co-op was my favorite part about the game. I love being able to tackle down zombies with my family. How else would we bond? We can't play Left 4 Dead all day and Dead Rising needs co-op. The assist jumps were pretty cool allowing one player to move forward while the other assists from a distance. Though it's not mandatory at every instance it does prove useful to take out the long range attacking zombies. I also liked how you could use a single herb to heal both players if they were standing close to each other. This game just screams for team work and cooperation. It makes me giggle happily.
I can understand that it might me be a little disappointing having another partner who just by being there with you takes away from the scare factor. But that wasn't a problem for me at all. Being stuck inside a building with five zombies and a zombie with a MUTHA-FU*** CHAINSAW spooked me. My sister had a good time laughing at my step father and I as we ran around screaming from Mr.Chainsaw... who I'm sure is actually a member of the Ringmasters from America's Best Dance Crew(Season 3). Some how that made me even more scared.

This is a SURVIVAL game. You're not suppose to die. When's the last time you saw a Game Over Screen?
Co-op will always be fun or not depending on your team mate. If you have a good friend it will be fun. If you have no friends and party with xxM4573R CH13Fxx who would rather sing about snowmen then watch your back... go make friends.

You can. To bring up those you have to hit Y, move the selection tool over the item, and then choose if you want to use,equip,give,or drop the item.
The d-pad just allows you to pull things into your hands quicker. Think of it as an inventory short cut.
