I do actually feel like this Podcast deserves it's own thread. Some really interesting information is divulged in it. I'm halfway through currently but some tidbits:
. New 'N' Tasty has sold roughly 3.5 million units, from Lorne's mouth himself.
. He says "admittedly a couple of million" were sold through the PS Plus offer, but he feels this was a good move as it gave them a larger install base.
. Lorne is interested in trying to get the message out to people that Soulstorm will NOT be on PS Plus, to avoid a situation where people wait it out for it to be on PS Plus for free because the last one was.
. Lorne speaks very briefly about how a major element of his original plan for Exoddus was this "flammable brew". He stops himself very quickly, but says it was meant to be an "active" and integral part of the evolution of gameplay that would form part of how the game works. It was cut due to those time restraints that everyone knows about. Has this flammable brew ever been mentioned before? Sounds interesting!
EDIT: Fuck now the "FL4MMABL3" clue in the ARG makes so much sense. Looks like it's gonna be in Soulstorm then.
. He reiterates that Soulstorm is a "New Game". Lorne felt Oddysee needed to remain intact because it's so iconic, but Exoddus is just the "Story inspiration" for Soulstorm, and "aside from that the game is entirely new" and there are a lot of surprises coming.
. "It's gonna be messed up" but it still has the dark humour. Sounds like they really listened to what the fans wanted. I'm pumped.
. I believe it is confirmed that Soulstorm will be using Unity, as Lorne states Soulstorm is being built on top of the New 'N' Tasty engine, with improvements being made, such as PBR rendering. "We have never been in this good a place, this early in development. What we are playing is something we haven't seen before, it's evolutionary"
. Lorne talks about how he wants to make the world of Soulstorm more dynamic, E.G in Oddysee there was normally one way to solve a puzzle, in N'n'T there was sometimes a few; in Soulstorm there will be various different ways to solve a puzzle to the point where it will be different and unique every time you do it.
. Lorne hints heavily that Soulstorm will take advantage of the new PS4 Neo /4.5 upgraded console to some extent, and the Xbox equivalent.
. PSN is there biggest selling network, and Steam and Xbox marketplace have been good to them. (No mention of Nintendo eShop, surprise surprise...)
. He says he's always wanted to do a black and white game, perhaps that's why we're seeing this grittier game and the B&W screenshots of Abe.
. Soulstorm announcement will be coming "fairly soon"
