Would it be reasonable to say that Gabbits have a similar niche to seals?
Both are amphibious, eat fish, and are naturally hunted by large aquatic predators (for seals, sharks and orcas; for Gabbits, Sea Rexes).
Their social behavior is more like dolphins and whales (their groups are even called pods, if I'm remembering correctly). Meanwhile, their breeding habits are a lot like that of salmon (except, hopefully, adult Gabbits don't die after breeding).

That's very reasonable, I adore gabbits' dolphin/otter like playful and social behavior.
I also liked their main form of communication which is whistling and clicks and also being able to mimic other creatures sounds, which is why I always thought Munch sounds funny when he speaks. Through this mimicing he has learned to speak "english" but is not his first language, so he has a croaky accent.
I certainly hope Munch isn't like a salmon in that sense. That would make for a heart wrenching ending for Munches Exoddus(if and when)
