If it weren't for OANST, I'd believe that getting 100% completion on Nintendo Hard videogames and being a successful father at the same time were mutually incompatible.

The Wonderful End of the World. It's a clone of Katamari Damacy, and an inferior one at that, but that isn't on PC. You can 100% it in about four hours, but it has great music, and provides an ample amount of fun throughout its short lifespan.

It's also locked to 1024x768 resolution. It was released in 2008. Some mysteries are best left unanswered.

Demo.

I've been playing a whole lot of Phantasy Star Online 2. The game is a loooot of fun, but I really dislike that a large portion of the game is in Japanese. Of which I cannot read, of course. A good deal is translated though, and that does nicely.

I played Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix in Japanese, and found it incredibly disorienting despite knowing the base game so well. I knew exactly where to go and what to do all the time, but ability menus and items were daunting for the first 20 or 30 hours.

After 100+ hours I actually got really good at remembering distinguishing features of words, like the standard suffixes on crafting mats that indicated quality, and remembering sequences of abilities in menus based on how physically long the words were. Even after months of not playing it I can navigate all of the menus fairly confidently, and because my methods of learning everything were so complex I can recall most of what I actually learned.

Because Japanese is so distinct from English, there are lots of little tricks you can use to make it easier for you.

Playing The Last of Us Remastered, now that I have this temporary PS4. Really an amazing game. Sometimes reminds me of Half-life 2 a bit. The story, setting and voice acting are all great and the graphics on the PS4... oh dem graphics on the PS4...

I usually get about an hour to two hours between the time I put the kids to bed, and Stephanie gets home from work. It takes a loooong time to work through those games that way, but it can be done!

I'm also playing The Last Of Us Remastered with my girlfriend, the storyline is amazing as well as the graphics. We completed the dlc earlier and that was pretty cool, but quite short.

TLOU is an example of a game with a genuinely good script, story and character performances that could rival some good films. Not just good by video game standards.

I've also played a little bit of Gods Must Be Watching. Only tried the Original game mode and haven't passed the second level. Kind of interesting but it it's really a game that could test your patience. I might go back to it on Easy mode or one of the new breezy modes released in the latest patch. Since diving right into Normal can put you off after a few hours.

I can't wait for the TLOU film. The storyline in the game was amazing. I completed it today and the story really drags you in..There are moments where you share feelings with some of the characters, and i've never felt that playing a game before.

I've come back to Minecraft after my mates decided to set up a server with us all.

Ahh Minecraft... I do give the game a lot of shit. Saying it ruined YouTube and such, but honestly. I really do see the game as a classic now. It's iconic. It's actually one of the most well known games of our time and you really have to appreciate how it just started as a little side project and suddenly become this massive hit.

Other then that, I've started a 100% runthrough of Crash Bandicoot for my channel. And of course the usual Dota 2 mixed with a few hours of TF2.

I recently started working on a Minecraft mini-game map and I'm really loving the potential to extend the game that Command Blocks have added. Vanilla is still growing and improving, but holy shit can you do some awesome things with Commands.

I have this crazy idea for a self-replicating cell that can perform maths. Each iteration of the cell creates a structure to perform binary operation on two bits, with the output feeding back into the cell and serving as the input to the next iteration. It expands out into one axis, and it could easily generate minecart tracks for a players to travel along so that you never have to worry about unloaded chunks. It would be cool to set up an infinite primes or fib numbers calculation with something like that.

Or maybe it's just me.

Blame CP, he mentioned Minecraft.

Meanwhile, I'm trundling along with my ASCII texture pack. The response over at the Dwarf Fortress forums was fairly positive.

I played the demo of Xotic, and I'm not sure if it's good (shooters aren't my thing), but it was pretty interesting.

The premise is you're a sort of living Genesis Device, and you have to bounce around planets blowing seeds everywhere while destroying a cancerous fungus. All this serves to justify the core mechanic that you have to keep blowing stuff up or you lose. The fate of the galaxy depends on it, man! Spread them seeds.

What makes it weird is that mechanically it feels like Quake or something, but there are barely any enemies. It's kind of like a competitive FPS stripped back into a very intense shooting gallery. You're not likely to die, rather the challenge comes from bouncing around levels like pinball, making big floaty jumps and trying to shoot a dozen tiny glowing targets while you sail-slash-plummet towards an even tinier floating platform. Then everything explodes.

The main game modes consist of: Shoot things while they try to shoot you, Shoot all the big glowing things, Grab all the floating things, and Shoot all the tiny exploding things without stopping.

I don't know. I get the feeling that it'd be great for someone who isn't me. Phylum, try it and tell me whether it's good or not.

It became extremely repetitive, overly difficult and not enjoyable to play.

I don't stick with games which aren't fun.

Tried out the Smash Bros 3DS demo.

The game is so far looking very promising. It feels a lot better than Brawl and plays really well on the 3DS. Can't wait for the full version.

I took a break from my normal World of Tanks craze to try a new humble bundle. Started playing Steamworld Dig. It's a pretty fun and interesting game, not much (yet) that is super special about it, but undeniably I am enjoying it. I will also be playing papers please soon, since STM nearly had an orgasm when I mentioned the game once before.

I've just moved into my accommodation at University, and there have been about 30 of us all gathered around a widescreen TV in the dark playing 'Five Nights At Freddy's'.. Its a bit mediocre, but its fun seeing everyone shit themselves from the jump scares haha!

Steamworld Dig is pretty cool, it starts slow but you do get to see some cool features later on such as teleporters and new enemies.

Lately I've been playing Borderlands 2 and Animal Crossing New Leaf. I've started playing a 3DS game called Hakuoki Memories of the Shinsengumi. It's a visual novel with awesome ties to the history of the shogunate and samurai, it's a very well made experience with a highly intertwined narrative.

I'm getting excited for the Gen 3 Pokemon remakes, So I decided to have a look at my other Pokemon games while I waited. I've apparently lost my copy of Pokemon Black, which had almost all Pokemon in the dex with also a few Shiny Pokemon and level 100s... Fucking sucks.

I've also been playing Skyrim, Spyro 1 and a bit of Wind Waker on the Wii U.

I started playing an old FPS called Blood II. I normally have a rule against not playing the first in a series first, but the first game used the old old 3D style where the world was in 3D, but all entities are sprites, and I just wasn't in the mood for that when I was game shopping at the time. Unfortunately it's one of those nostalgia-bad games, where just about every review out there says it's an awful awful game because the first game was just sooooo much better. While I haven't played the first blood game I can say that I am quite enjoying Blood II, it was giving me the exact type of fun I was looking for, lots of killing, a couple minor puzzles here and there, and haven't had any searching for a keycard for hours things.

If you can get past how gratingly buggy the BUILD Engine is, the first Blood (along with Duke3D and Shadow Warrior) are really great mindless shooting set to some some crazy 90s level design.

The keycard hunting does get a bit much, though.
