"How do they Bounty hunt? Do they use guns? How much do they get paid?"
I talked to my grandpa today, and he told me they're now called 'bail officers'.
The pay is mediocre, but my grandpa [and nick, my girlfriend's father] assure me that the excitment makes up for the lack of money.
They carry guns, as well as a variety of 'stun' type weapons [pepper spray, stun gun, you get it], though the actual pistol is only to be used in cases where they are being attacked.
The way a bounty is set up is basically a price on someone's head for dodging jail/prison time, breaking out, or having several outstanding warrants. Then, a team of 'bail officers' is dispatched to find the person, arrest them, and turn them in to the authorites. There's never a 'dead or alive' bounty like you see in the media.
Nick also told me that in addition to being paid the price on the person's head, you have an average salary. So going after bigger criminals brings you a bigger check, but also a bigger risk of injury.
My grandpa has been shot at numerous times, but only shot once.
for a 60 year old man, the guy can hustle.
