No, as I said, I do co-op. Due to my ADHD, theory classes were rendered largely useless for me since I never wrote anything down that didn't severely hold my interest and they didn't think to, oh, test me for a learning disability (diagnosed like a month ago blah blah blah). My last co-op was at a St. Vincent De Paul used goods charity store, they had me Fixing/Cleaning/Scavenging Parts/Dismantling home electronics and appliances. I learned my way around most typical household tools (and several atypical) and found out about the harvestability of copper wire. On Thursdays they'd send my down to the 'other' electronics room, this one an unorganized mess where all of the non-appliances went. They found out I have some rudimentary game system knowledge and commissioned me to take care of the large collection of useless bullshit that were stacked against the walls. My presence has allowed the other employees to work on other things without concerning themselves with the half of the work I'm doing. I like working there because I actually made an impact on the shelving space and overall product output. Other volunteers/employees regularly complimented me for getting the space open and it felt good to help.
This year I've held 3 other co-op positions. My first was at the Humane society. Working with animals all day was refreshing and the dog-walking component was decent exercise (I had the math down for it at some point, like 1.5 KM per dog+the 8KM round trip from home). Unfortunately, due to an incident involving some Pennies, my impatient boss and a very fat hungry dog, I was given some unpleasant treatment at the hands of many of the employees and decided to quit at the end of November. I got rather sick of hearing Lisa, the 'top dog' lady make snide comments about my work and how 'it's your last day here anyway' repeatedly. (Of course, after my co-op teacher heard about the latter he supposedly put her in her place.)
I moved on to bigger and better things at the Food Bank. Free lunch+snacks+drinks and the absolute most badass boss I ever had made this one of my favorite positions. The work was easy, too. Unfortunately for that, it only lasted 5 of the necessary 6 hours a day and I didn't get my co-op sheets signed for it for some retarded reason. I found myself at Doug's Bicycle. I liked it there, but I pulled a real dick move by simply not showing up for work while my dad was out of town. They let me go, but without malice, inviting me to comeby and chat once in awhile, I do.
On to Grade 12, now.
