Smashing idea

Is unreal hard to learn?
Not so hard as soon as its a visual editor (I make few maps with it)
So you can check this for tutorials - http://www.moddb.com/engines/unreal-engine-3/tutorials

i made some fixes with lightning in all thre zones. I think that it's not sensible to show it on screenshots.

@Crescent

It is easy in my opinion. If you haven't found hard to learn basics of programs like photoshop or gimp. Then you shouldn't have problems with Unreal Editor .

@Q-Ball

Could you send me PM with links to screenshots? Maybe i can give you some feedback or something

I added two secret areas in Zone1

Some unnecessary objects from parts of level from neightbour screens. I will fix it later . Now i will finish another secret area from Zone1 and from Zone2.

I'm bored of creating Zulag1, so i want to ask you what do you want to see next? Next Zulag or Stockyards? I mean stockyards without Free Fire Zone. I would create a poll but i'm worried that i couldn't do it now.

Are you planning to make it a playable game, or just rebuilding oddworld levels for fun?

It would be great if i can make it playable, but first i must improve visual aspect (it isn't enought good for me), create some characters models (at least slig worker class, and mudokon), and then i can start creating gameplay. It will be hard to create abe's movement (mainly climbing system). Now the only thing that i can create for sure is good camera system...

Can you make your own new playable levels with it? That would be great to see.

by 'you' you mean everyone who wants to create his own level? Yup, everyone can make his own levels. I'm creating everything in that way which will make creating levels easier for other people.

@Fartuess
Hello

I'm new here.
I'm sorry, I can not speak English well.
Your models are great and look very good.
I program is currently a game and would like to try something.
Can you send me your models?
I want to test how the models look like in the game.

Absolutely fantastic work Keep it up! It would be great to be able to play the original games in high resolution 3D! You've inspired me to give 3d modelling another go.. I'm gonna try to make Abe once I get better .. can't wait to see where this project of yours goes

Upgraded platform texture

I have also two more things to say:

Firstly - What i should make next? More Zulags or Stockyards? I mean stockyards without free fire zone. It's hard choice, because models from stockyards are way more complicated, and will be used only in 6 game screens (there are also 5 game screens from secret, but secret is located in rupture farms, and is using only one model from stockyards - fence). So it is hard choice for me and only one vote for stockyards (from scrabtrapman) isn't enought to convince me to chose harder way.

Secondly - seeing that scrabtrapmans idea of level creator is pretty popular, i started to think about relasing unfinished version of package with content (models, textures, materials but without levels which i have created). Just kit for those users who want to create their own levels . I can relase it now, or in middle of may (with some more assets). What do you think about it?

I'm with lord Stanley.. stockyards!!! It'd be great to see a new type of atmosphere with different lighting and scenery objects.. Etc.. I'm lovng ur stuff, I check this site most days to see how ur getting on with things, I'm defnately a fan .. Btw, I did try out modelling.. I reckon I could actually model quite well. but I have very little patience and of course that's what is needed! But just to get me motivated, maybe u could suggest something I could model.. i've never really modelled before, but I'm a perfectionist, and I studied art at college, got an A .. So I reckon I could pick things up.. You got any tips on how to make a model that is most suitable for animating, with regards to the the ...'topology'? Is that the right word? The mesh topology?

Edit: I'm using Google Sketchup. Nahh, just joking.. 3dsmax

Try with simple models that are static and work up from there.
WOuld not even begin with animation untill you have mastered modelling and decent texture mapping.

project is frozen for next week. I have my laptop formated and have none of graphic programs installed on it. Now i'm waiting for guy from dell's service (my laptop has broken something with cooling. Pretty popular problem in this model). Probably project will be still frozen one week more (i have my last matura exam - polish equivalent of high school exam - in 11 may)

laptop is fixed. I just installed april version of UDK (earlier i was using november and january version) and i have problem. I'm loading my package, and scrolling down through library of objects. And always in exactly same place editor is crashing. I know that it is fault of single texture or material. I'm gonna find out which texture is it and try to delete it or replace.

Earlier i haven't those problems. I don't know what is the cause of problem. It can be different version of editor, or problems when i was moving package file to portable drive. It can also be fault of fact that now i was loading entire packages in one moment (normally when i was opening map, editor was loading only those objects which were used on map. Rest was only thumbnails of objects which were loading only when i was trying to put them into level.)

I hope i manage to fix it without any major problems.

Edit:
_________________

Argh! Editor is also crashing when i'm trying to open map only with content placed on it without unused objects :/
