I've been playing the fifth Phoenix Wright game; Dual Destinies.

On the fourth trial. It's superb. Way better than Apollo Justice and just maybe on par with Trials and Tribulations. I really really like Athena and the overarching plot it has going.

Also Blackquil is tying for second best prosecutor with Godot.

I've been playing Devil May Cry 4 on PC. Seems like a very nice port and works well with the 360 pad. Well worth a go if you're curious about DMC style games

I'm going to undercut Joe and talk about Long Live the Queen, of which I have been playing the demo.

It's a visual novel/political simulator somewhere between Princess Maker and Crusader Kings. You play a rosy-cheeked kawaii desu desu etc. princess with darling pink drills, who has to prepare for her upcoming coronation since her mother (i.e. the Queen) died under mysterious circumstances and her father apparently doesn't feel like being King.

You do so by studying various (30+) courtly skills, be it magic, diplomacy or warfare. The effectiveness of said skills is tied to your moods, which, rather than simply being happy = learning, gives you bonuses to different things when different fears and confidences cloud your judgement. These moods can themselves be adjusted by whiling away your free time around the castle; walking in the gardens, playing with your cousins, going to church etc.

Then, the visual novel bit. Inbetween (and sometimes at) these excursions, you're presented with choices to make, responses to which are limited by your knowledge and simple hidden diceroll tests against your skill. Each event will test multiple skills, however, so it's still fairly deep.

So how did I do?

Well, I was naturally depressed at the death of my mother, so I worked it out through painting and bonding with my pet falcon. I also talked to my cousin Lottie, but after a poisonous snake appeared in the grounds in what appeared to be a botched assassination attempt, she threw herself in front of me and had to return to her own province while she recovered from the poison.

Of course, now Princess Meechy is terrified of snakes, so I train up my falcon and develop my own reflexes. This helps me avoid a tumble with a clumsy maid, but the other side-effect is I ended up really good at dancing. Dancing was a great way to blow off some steam, so I started going to the ball every week. This helped me make a few contacts and work on my etiquette, but it mainly made everyone love their beautiful, graceful monarch-to-be. This in turn made me stupidly happy, and soon I was ploughing through my studies at a pace only unaninmous adoration can allow. I went climbing, learned to meditate, and even picked up a book a couple of times.

Ah.

Yes, while good for the soul, body, and image, all that dancing had left my princess something of a ditz. As a result, I accepted a pretty necklace without understanding that it was supposed to be a dowry. I'm now engaged to a bloke I've never met.

Looks like I've got myself in a- [DEMO ENDS].

tl;dr I'm a dancing pink princess with a motherfucking falcon

Started Far Cry: Blood Dragon after getting it free almost half a year ago. School's out, time for gaming

Only played about an hour so far, but it's really fun. Corny, stupid fun. The shooting works well, the take-downs are satisfying and powerful enough to justify stealth, and everything just runs smoothly. The writing and voice acting has made me giggle quite a bit, and the tutorial was perfect.

This is really reminding me how bad I am at modern shooters, though. Enemy troops glow red and I can't spot them for shit. I'm too used to my shooters looking like this.

But whatever. I can't decide if I love it yet, but everything looks really good so far.

I saw that a couple of friends on Steam bought Space Engineers, and it looked interesting to me, so I thought I'd give it a try myself - And I'm glad I did.

It's a lot like Starmade (Minecraft in space, with spaceships and little disc planets) except without the crappy retro look, with deformable blocks and much better physics, but with fewer things to do in-game at this time - Actually the two games will probably end up being quite different, so it's worth a look at both of them if you're into that kind of thing.

Space Engineers is good for an alpha though and I'm interested to see where they'll take it next.

Been trying out PoE a bit with a friend now that i don't have much school left. This game is hard. Knowing how to build a character is an art. I'm currently level ~30 and doing alright, albeit a tad gear reliant. The game is almost painfully slow solo, especially if you want to play one of the magic classes, but when you get friend(s) to play with it gets exponentially more fun. The game is just really well designed.

Unlike other ARPGs it gives you lots of choice. If you want to build a witch that focuses on physical damage with her wand, you can do that. There are passive skills to support it. You could find gear to support it. I don't know that it's viable in the long run, but you could build around it no problem.

Fro anyone that's been playing, I'm building a curse witch with CI and lightning damage. It's working well so far. I'm getting over my head solo in Act 3 for the first time, but in a group I start to really pull my weight. I've been using Wrath to boost my damage output solo, so I might think about branching out into some mana reserved passives, but fucked if I can remember where they are.

If you like slow, grindy ARPGs then this game is awesome. If you got bored in TL2 this game is not for you.

Just got stomped by the first boss in act 3. Need more energy shield

Seriously this fight is stupid. She wipes all of my energy shield in 2 hits, and hits me regularly enough with ranged lightning attacks, even when I'm moving, that I can't regen anything. I need a tanky warrior or something to do this with. Pity both of my friends are playing shadows.

First time I ever heard of the X games, but I gotta say this looks and sounds pretty impressive. I really want to try it but I'm trying to hold myself back and wait until the Steam Holiday Sale. Also there seem to be a few bugs and crashes.

I've been playing a number of different games recently.

I started a new save on Fallout New Vegas. I tried out a few graphic enhancing mods which make the game much nicer to look at. I can even control the weather now.
Can't really say anything new about it that hasn't already been said. However, I do always end up killing a lot of tribes... Yeah I'm a bad person.

Played a lot of Munch's Oddysee (hehe). I defiantly enjoy that game a lot more then I did.

Finished Pokemon X and i've put the game down until the Pokemon Bank comes out. The little amount of end-game content is shocking.

Other then that, I've kept playing Dota 2. nearing my 400th game soon; 95 of them being me picking Storm Spirit. Speaking of Storm, The recent major patch changed Storm's model and added 2 new heroes. I don't like change! >_>

Spacebase DF-9 is looking damned good for an Alpha (currently alpha 2), and already has a lot of features with a lot more on the way, apparently. Obviously it's a bit buggy at the moment (the AI & path finding are crap), but DoubleFine seem to have something really good going on with this, and of course they know how to make decent games, so the finished thing has a good chance of being really awesome.

It's similar to the isometric Bullfrog classics (Theme Hospital/Dungeon Keeper) while being unique in its own way, so worth a try if you liked them back in the day (especially if you have the 20% off discount for owning a previous DF game, otherwise it may be a bit pricey for what it is, IMO).

I've completed a beautiful, genius game called "Papers, Please". It's about a man who works as an immigration office in Soviet Russia a fictional country and asks people for their papers (documents).

It's 10/10. I'm serious. If there was no Stanley Parable this year, I'd call it the Game of The Year instantly. Buy it. STM has an avatar from this game. But he didn't tell us (me?) that this game is so brilliant, so no kudos to him.

I just rescued my fourth sage in the Link Between Worlds.

This is easily my favourite 2D Zelda. The puzzles are very imaginative, the difficulty curve is actually right for once (3D Zelda tends to be way too easy, 2D Zelda way too hard) and the dungeon design is fantastic, especially with how much they mix it up.

This might not be exaaaactly the right thread but can anyone think of a good co-op game to play with my girlfriend? I'm trying to find things I can do with her that aren't F2P's consisting of mashing one button and watching some 9 year old kid with big hair hit a generic monster. I suggested Magicka but she doesn't seem interested because it's not bloody enough. Apparently she likes shooters, I dunno? I don't really do games that much any more...

I tell you what, I don't see the appeal of 'gamer girls', they'll do anything for you except be social with you.

Eh I dunno, I think she's thinking, 'kill people with guns, swords, bows' and shit. I dunno, it's fucking frustrating I tell you. If I could just get her to stop gaming for one sec I could ask her myself. Anyone know if War of the Roses is any good? Seems a bit more up her alley.

e: No worries, accidentally guilt tripped her into making an effort. We're playing L4D2.

Weetabix out of the box? Isn't it a little too dry for that?

@STM: Me and my best friend still chill out at his house after our weekend job and play games together, even though we're 27. Heh. We've been doing LAN gaming with his old computer after his PS3 died. This site lists co-op games: http://www.co-optimus.com/

Don't forget to also look through the classics - We finished Diablo 2 last week after 4 months (3-4 hours, once a week). Nostalgia-tastic.

Dark Souls. Haven't had a game make me jump so much in a long time!
