*sigh* I see no one (except Nate) got what I said. If its concurrent with the evolution of the Quintology, then the next game that OWI produces will be the next game in The Quintology. It may or may not have anything to do with the previous games, but it will still be part of The Q. Abe may not be in the next game and it has Munch and another "hero" venturing across Mudos, who knows. LETS JUST WAIT AND SEE.

But theres no point in me theorising, no one seems to pay attention to anything I say anyway.

I personally hope we get a new character, doing his quest by himself, maybe having Abe or Munch as side characters, but not playable. I liked it when Abe was alone and had not anyone on his side. The odds were against him. Plus I don't like Munch, he's too weak.

Concurrent means it happens at the same time, but in an other place, right?

I don't think it will (heavily) involve Abe and Munch then, but a new hero. The story, I think, WILL contribute to the quintology and even be part of it.

That means that, IMO, we will get an adventure of a new guy somewhere else on Oddworld with an own story, that will make the story as a whole much bigger. He will meet Abe and Munch in a later game. It only makes sense that they don't all become a hero as soon as Abe meets them, right?

Well, this is what I'm hoping for.. and that's all I have to say about that

Not necessarily. Concurrent just means coincide, which means occupying the same space or time, doesnt have anything to do with another place. So this means that the next game may be on another continent, but it is still the next game in The Qs sequence of events.

Go Alf! Woohoo!!!

But seriously I don't think Alf would ever be a hero, he's really just there for comic relief. Or even another Mud for that matter. Remember in AO in the Free Fire Zone, all the moons in the background, they're gonna need a lot of hero's from different species to fill them up.

Exclamation an RPG

Am I the only one here, who think that Oddworld would be the perfect setting for an RPG/Adventure game?

I mean, I'd love to take on Abe and munch adventure through the land of oddworld, but rather to be into a platformer/puzzle game, to have something more toward an RPG, where the story is large, you require to travel a lot, solve puzzles, quests, etc.

The first time I played Munch's Oddysee,my first oddworld game, the thought kept comming back to my mind. This game would SO be great in an rpg/adventure game format.

oh and btw, FIRST POST!

yeah, I am SO a newbie...

Ok, first, welcome. Secondly, isnt the Oddworld series an RPG? I know theyre platformers, but I think they could already be classed as RPGs, MO especially.

RPG could be done, but no text boxes and no battle systems of Final Fantasy fame.

Munch's Oddsyee and all the other Oddworld games can be categorised into the following gaming categories:

Strategy/Platform/Adventure

I don't really know, but maybe the Action category also fits the games.

Yes it's a damn shame. I was really looking forward to a fully interactive game. And I really miss the strategy, I love stretching my brain.

Well I was personally desapointed in Munch (never played the other prior games). I'd categorise MO as an Platformer/puzzle game myself. No real strategy, but rather more puzzle solving. You had to think often on how to save those scrubs at times.

As for the RPg Idea I gave, if you don't like the final fantasy system, we could still go along something more similar to Baldur's gate on PC, or NeverWinter Nights, again on PC. Or a system closer to what Bioware (who made baldur's gate and neverwinter nights) will do with the soon to come on xbox : Starwars: Knights of the old republic. It would be fun to see a party formed of Abe, Munch, a Mudoken's shaman and a slig traveling togheter to solve a mystery/save more scrubs...

Oh also, there was one thing I was a little desapointed by munch. When I first bought the game, it says that both abe and munch could play in cooperation togheter. It wasn't wrong, but I would have liked it if 2 people could have played the game togheter, one controlling abe, the other munch. I say this because I think Oddworld would have been perfect to get my wife to play with me, although she doesn't like to play alone, and doesn't have the patience to go alone in the game as she isn't quite skilled with videogames. I know we talked about genre changes for the next oddworld, but even if it was still a platformer/puzzle game I'd buy it right away. but if they could include a 2 players mode, simultaniously or one after the other, I think it would be a great plus to the next game.

Welcome to the forums Guibs, I hope you enjoy your time here.

As for MO being an RPG, well origanally MO was planned to be just that. You know with mini quests and ton's upon ton's of different choices you could make during the run of the game that would effect its outcome leaving ton's of possible sacranarios but saddly, due to tight time sheduals and the such MO had alot taken out of it.

The only bad things about the two player concept is that whoever was playing Munch would have a lot of time sitting around doing nothing, and a little bit with Abe.
The other thing is that if you were then to play by yourself, it couldn't be done as you would only have one character under your control.

Oh, I see. Now that I think about it, the first two were more action/strategy/puzzle solving. Dunno about MO yet so Ill just take your word for it.

Well I finally took the time to read the interview either from this month or last that said. The new character would be something completely new, so although there is still that possibility of a species we allready know of, I think its going to be an all new one that is going to suprise us. It would be in my opinion a suprise to see not only an all cast, but all new species with as some others have mentioned some old. Hopefully this will not be classified as the next quintology game as some people have theorized. I would like it rather to be classified as an other category for OWI's games. That way it still allows the bonus games such as ME and the quintology games, and also the other games such as HOO.

You know I am thinking that this next character and story is going to take all of us by surprise. Here are the facts:

We know its not going to be HOO or ME. We know there is going to be a bran new character or characters in this next game and that it will be concurrent with the quintology. We know that the next game is in top secret mode and OWI isn't telling us anything major obveously! We know that the technology for the next game will seem like you will be in a movie rather than a game in which Lanning said in one of his interviews I might add.
And lastly the things we were going to see in MO will be in this game if not all most in which I balieve was mentioned before to not worry this game will make up for the disappointment of MO guarenteed by Alf!

Now that is all the facts I can think of on the next game. If there is others please state them. I think what we are going to see is possably a lower level on the food chain. Maybe something lower than what we have seen before like at the slurg level? And the dealings of what they must endure on a daily life in Oddworld. That would be interesting. Or perhaps something higher on the food chain and what their issues in life are. All I know is that OW4 will be different then anything we have seen before and I can't wait.

This is going to be the best game ever!

Why can't they just release the most tinsyest little piece of information. Surely they have created the name of it (the proper name) and I doubt that they would change it if they had, so it wouldn't hurt us if it did. Can't they at least give us that?
*Sighs* I guess they can't do it now if they aren't there.
