A logo doesn't need shading to look good. You're probably thinking of the contrast problem that's been brought up many times already

I'm not saying it needs it to look good, I just mean all other Oddworld stuff has had at least a basic level of shading, whereas this has none. Therefore, it seems unOddworldish to some people, I think.

Not really. They don’t hit the neon greens and magentas, but they make heavy use of bright blues, reds and yellows. If I had to guess I’d say the 50s didn’t have much color coverage in their printing processes as we do now. But having less colors doesn’t mean they’re less colorful.

Back when I said 'mild stuff' the term I was really looking for was pastel colours, something that most of those 50's ads made use of. That's where the big difference is, and it is notable, especially when compared to more modern stuff.

I'm trying to suggest a reason for why people think the logo is slightly different and am contributing to the discussion but you clearly aren't interested in adding to this discussion so I suggest you either actually contribute to this topic or don't say anything.
