Not true. I don't know about in the UK, but I have found some of my favourite CD's and movies at my local HMV. Hell, I did the majority of my Christmas shopping there. They often have great 2/25 or 2/20 deals on CD's which I just eat the fuck up. And seasons of Seinfeld go for ten dollars!
Then again, they charged me $40 for a ratty-ass Star Wars t-shirt that had a mildy clever phrase regarding an AT-AT and sexuality on it, so I suppose I'm a bit on the fence.

I'm half with you both on this one, HMV Canadaside seems to carry a fairly broad selection of music and while they
push a lot of ubiquitous shite on people through ads and such they still carry some music that's hard to find online or in local music stores. Unfortunately the music layer usually covers about a quarter of the store, the rest being tonnes of tent-sized nerd chic t shirts and sweat pants, overpriced crappy headphones and a million shitty DVD's or that weird vynil shit that was neat before fucking EVERYTHING had a vynil figurine.
And fuck the Big Bang Theory, seriously. I tried to like it, I gave it a shot, but it's just a turd circus of television.
