Played the demo of Q.U.B.E..

It was okay. I'll buy it if it goes on sale.
Awesome game, I'd buy it if I were you! I love indie games.

Started Metro 2033. Quite slow to start, but once the game stops holding your hand it can get quite tense and atmospheric.

I ran into a massive brick wall, though – the game has areas where you need to a gas mask to survive, and you need to find/buy clean filters to keep it working. I seem to have found myself stuck with no filters in the middle of nowhere and no air left, so I’m stuck.

Are you doing something wrong?

Or is that just bad game design that has you stuck where you are?

I've started play Lord of the Rings Online (LOTRO) and it's a good deal of fun. Probably better than WoW and free! I've been messing around for a couple of days and managed to get to level 15. Really nice graphics and storyline. Gameplay's just like WoW and you get to meet all the characters from the books. I love it so far.

Is it that easy as they say? (On steam forums they say there's really no challenge in that game at all)

It feels like I’ve been dumb and didn’t bring enough vital supplies to stay alive, but at the same time it feels like the game gave me no indication before arriving in the danger zone that I would need so many supplies, and I haven’t found any more while exploring so there’s no “safety net”.

e: I’m dumb, the loading screen informed me that your gas mask can break sometimes and will then need to be replaced. Found a dude near my checkpoint with a fresh mask, been fine since.

I'm really loving Dark Souls now that I've gotten more used to it. It's hard as hell, but really rewarding when you kill a huge enemy and gain tons of souls. The lock-on system could be better though.

My current set up is:

- Black Knight Sword +2
- Fire Knight Shield +3
- Thief's Mask +2
- Black Leather Armour +2
- Elite Knight Gauntlets +2
- Elite Knight Boots +2

I also have The Evil Eye ring and The Ring of Favor and Protection. Pretty good imo.

I've had that game at my Dad's for a while now but still haven't tried it. Been to busy with Skyrim. When I'm done with that, I might play through it. Twilight Princess left me with a bad taste in my mouth, though, so I'm skeptical.

I won't be that skeptical. Its better then TP in everyway. (Don't get me wrong, I adore Twilight Princess) The only thing I can see being a problem at the start is the controls. They have to be gotten used to. Overall you will not be disapointed because so far it is an epic game.

Played the demo of Rayman Origins. Had no idea what was going on or what I was meant to do. Kept dying. One shot kills? Fuck that!

So then I deleted it and pushed Ico in to the drive. I still have no idea what's going on, but I'm loving it. I really see what people mean about the relationship between Ico and Yorda; it's really very sweet. And they've manipulated me sufficiently that when I'm leading Yorda around, I put in an effort to walk slowly, so as not to force her to run barefoot.

I really was trying to like it, though. Lots of people whose opinions I respect tell me that it's awesome. It's possible that a demo with better context and backstory included could have converted me, but the instakill would have still annoyed me.

I started with Roguelikes again. My favourite by far is Powder. The beauty of the game is the simplistic nature. It's all randomly generated and no 2 games are the same
(The more I explain it, the more it sounds like Minecraft. Don't worry they're completely different.)
You start off on level 1. You have to scrounge around for equipment and food, killing any creatures in your way. Once you feel ready, you look for the descending ladder to level 2. The aim of the game is to descend to level 25 of the dungeon and defeat the boss battle. The twist is, once you die, there's no loading. You have to start over again. Surprisingly, it doesn't get boring. I've died over 10 times (it's incredibly hard, in-fact, you're not actually expected to get to level 25) and it doesn't get boring because each time you start again, there's new monsters, new encounters, items maps etc.
Lots of fun.

Have you played Rayman games before? The yellow shiny things are Looms and you're supposed to collect them (if they didn't tell that in demo... well, I guess they should have then)

About everything wanting to kill the player: it was well designed in original Rayman - you can tell from the look of enemy if he's hostile or friendly - dunno how about R: Origins (haven't played [console-exclusive ])

:

R:O's got instakill? Woah, that's bad. There was no instakill in any rayman game (except getting killed by water etc)

I'm not that into roguelikes, but have you played Dungeons of Dredmor? From your description it's something like your Powder, but new, funnier, most probably harder (with only 10levels), and with a lot more gameplay elements

No I haven't. Yes, I figured that I had to collect them. I just didn't know why.

:
About everything wanting to kill the player: it was well designed in original Rayman - you can tell from the look of enemy if he's hostile or friendly - dunno how about R: Origins (haven't played [console-exclusive ])
Yes, I was able to identify most (but not all) things that wanted to kill me. I just didn't get why. This part is mainly a criticism of the demo, rather than the game itself, but there was a distinct lack of context in everything.

:
R:O's got instakill? Woah, that's bad. There was no instakill in any rayman game (except getting killed by water etc)
Yes, unless I found a special floaty heart thing, enemies were instakill. And the save points were just far enough back to be annoying for someone as ham-fisted as me.

To be honest, Rayman: Origins is only a really great game if you don't try to make sense out of it. The story is almost non-existent.

Yeah, I think you’re getting needlessly hung up on stuff that isn’t actually important. It’s like Mario: you collect coins just because, enemies are bad dudes because they’re in your way, and everything is deadly.
