By a lot of people I assume you mean fanboys and sheep? Call of Duty is supposedly 'good and successful', yet it's still dull as dishwater and has been since the fourth instalment. In general. What's the difference between Halo 2, 3, ODST and Reach besides minor touch ups?
E: Okay, before you try tearing me a new arse-hole, I've googled the Halo 4 story line, and supposedly, it's not gun-ho FPS any longer, perhaps it'll be the rejuvenation needed to open a dead-end franchise? I dunno, we'll wait and see.

I did mean the series' fans. I just thought the cover art looked neat, I'm not that interested in it, someone else can tear you a new asshole, I'm too tired to get into an argument today.

This is a stupid argument. “It’s the same setup as the previous instalments in the series”? Okay, sure, but isn’t that the entire point of them being part of the same series

The cover is indeed pretty nice, it's not the usual soldier-standing-and-looking-at-camera type of 'art' like COD4 and later and BF3... i like the perspective here.

Well...ehem...quite. Meh, I guess I have a one-sided view, I have a pretty strong dislike of most shooters on the market.
=.

Yeah, why keep making good successful games that a lot of people want?
Because the story is finished?
Mull that over.

I don't think that many people play Halo for the story, really. It is quite obvious though that they made Halo 4 (and its upcoming sequels...) just for money. Doesn't stop it from being good though.
In theory, not neccesarily (it just severely dents its chances). In reality, yes, yes it does.
It's obvious they're putting a lot of passion into Halo 4. They wouldn't go through this much trouble to mix up one of the most successful formulas in gaming if their only motivation was money, but I guess if you've already played it...
Eh, I bought a limited edition leather box edition of FNV, never again, I love it and all, but it's so expensive and the box just sits on display now...the mark up on these things is enormous.

You also need to bear in mind that realtime demos are not the same as game engines. I mean... the rendering engine code is the same, but the assets are designed differently. They cherrypick the models, the angles and the action, and optimise everything for the one short scene. When the same engine is put in-game, there's a greater need for flexibility as the player can look anywhere, go anywhere and doesn't want a loading screen every 20 seconds. That means that every detail needs to be dialed down significantly.

Well yeah, these demos are supposed to show what games will look like in a few years. It's more processing-intensive to render an entire level as it moves (plus the entire game code, control input, damage, etc.), than one corridor from a set angle. It'll take games, and home PCs, a while to catch up.
You're probably thinking "Wow, that's the shallowest, most generic trailer I've ever seen." That's actually kind of the point.
As with TrackMania, they're aiming to make a 'blank canvas' game, that's at once both perfectly balanced in its natural state and inherently moddable. Basically, they want to be the world's most moddable games. Because when you're 300 different games on your own, why should people play anything else?
Also note the lack of graphic violence. It's all about being fun and accessible.
Pretty pumped for this game and I really wanna see how it turns out. I'll probably end up pre-ordering it just for the soundtrack. So good.
Also, this is pretty cool, it's a Street Fighter 25th Anniversary Collector's Set that includes an 11-disc soundtrack, an 8'' tall Ryu statue, 64 page artbook and most of the modern Street Fighter games including most (or all) of the DLC. It's $149,99. I'd get it for that price if I was into Street Fighter, that's a good price for such a huge box of goodies.
Ron Gilbert and Tim Schafer's (?) new game, The Cave. Note: This isn't the Double Fine Adventure game from what I've understood. Looks a bit like Trine.

Apparently the gameplay is more puzzley and adventurey than simply platforming. The plot and characters sound quite intruiging too.
