You see? I do understand the beauty of music, art and so on, but I don't find that the attractive part of music. I find the primal see and hear factor much more fun.

I like the sound of the riffs, I like the sound of the vocals, I like the twisted nature of it. That is why I like Korn.

Nine Inch Nails gives me goosebumps, it's like a really big gun, or a very cool tank. It's got that "power" about it.

To me, it's all about atmosphere, and imagination. I listen to music that enhances that atmosphere of my present surroundings.

And sometimes I'll even crave it like a drug!

well the thing is i dont look deep into art because i know better, you end up getting sucked in and thinking about it constantly, sounds crazy but true! you see if you view a painting too long and try and solve it you dont stop thinking about it, you lose sleep, yadda yadda yadda. And dont say it cant happen to you because it happens to everyone.

and though most of todays music is ignorant i also dislike music when the person singing or whatever has no talent but is still popular

I don't see the problem with this. I've lost sleep over many things, but it's all been worth it.

I wasn't referring to sligslinger. Also I lost the connection to oddchat. sorry. Death. All those things like feelings that the riffs give you and all that are perfect examples what music is capable of. I never said that you should not like music for this. That is a very good reason to like music in fact. I only have a problem with dishonest music. Korn is dishonest because they wite music purely to sell records. Not because they truly believe what they are doing. They made a musical 360 when their label asked them too. That is why I don't like them. You can and will listen to whatever you choose. I only ask that you look into some of the better stuff and decide for yourself. That is all.

But I have. You have no idea how much I musically shop around.

I have gone through classical, rock, metal, indy, techno, trance, d&b, urban, pop, ambient and electro. I have found plenty of really different artists and bands that I like in most of these genres.

I am not a big follower of Korn. And I don't dissagree that they are very commercial. But they are very good at making the music they do, and I just cannot accept that a band as good as them are doing it purely for money.

Money is an obvious factor, but the lead singers microphone is a specially commissioned HR Giger sculpture for gosh sakes!

yes it is. That doesn't really add weight to their case though. From a critical standpoint you would also have to say that Nsync and brittney spears are excellent. They aren't. Korn is not the greater of the evils out there but their music is rather trite. That doesn't mean that you shouldn't like it. Their is a difference between artists and entertainers. Korn are more entertainer then artist even though they are artists. As entertainers they are very good. As artists they fall far short. When I discuss music I do so from an artists standpoint.

You see, this is why I like Drum And Bass. It has the rock and roll entertainer aspect, and it is also very artistic and expressive.

It is also the most forward thinking music community I know.

This was a long time ago...since then Facsimile and I have not fought!

Anyway, what I really hat is when people come over to your house and insist on using the computer, but they don't really know what they're doing. That drives me crazy!
