J_Dude don't get him started.

Don't get me wrong, a fan game would be cool, I simply remain sceptical, but I know J_Dude has been working hard on his so if anyone is going to finish one I reckon it'll be him.

Hell, the mere thought of this as a fan project has already gotten me learning some basic Unity scripting. Right now I have a little cube that shoots bullets on my screen.

Wait, what kind of fan project was proposed? I might have missed that.

I highly recommend checking out this set of tutorials – the guy who makes them is absolutely excellent at putting the basic concepts in easy-to-understand terms, and he tries to make it easy to follow along while also encouraging you to try your own stuff instead of just blindly copying everything he does.

Well it was more “thrown around” than actually proposed, but the basic gist was:
:
literally the same original games but with better versions of the original art assets, plus opportunity to make it easy for new custom levels.

Yeah, what they taught us in Unity was mostly importing models and animation. It was games art so scripts and code took a back seat.

I'd love a "Abe's Oddysee Classic: HD". It shouldn't be as much work as rebuilding the whole game, right? Too bad the source code was lost though.

Well, I liked it when I was younger. I had this game new, when I just received my new Xbox and I remember liking the graphics at the time, and the cutscenes of course. Now I think it's just mediocre as a game... That whole idea of having to collect "spooce shrubs" was really bad, and controls were way too touchy.

It's really not the highlight of the Oddworld series for sure.

That's pretty much the opinion of the vast majority. No need to discuss it, but it still makes a good joke

Oh, does everyone hate Munch?

I didnt play it til the HD remake, and I thought it was okay. I quit cuz the camera was inverted and I couldnt figure out how to change it though.

it was okay.
This is basically the consensus except for a few people with more vitriolic views. It was alright for its time, but not the best, and it hasn’t aged as well as the rest of the series.

This is not a Munch thread. Everyone should have listened to Varrok when he said 'No need to discuss it'.
