I just ate the profiteroles of decadence, they contain more saturated fat in just 3 than I normally eat in 2 days.

Oh my god they were so worth it.

Got a harmonica, some new headphones (old ones broke), the obligatory new Magic deck, obligatory Rush candle, some junk food, some clothes, 32gb memory card to stick in my phone, a CD player and some kick-ass speakers for my computer.

Also got tickets to see Gorguts/Origin with my friends, but that happened last week. Oh and I got a time machine so I could witness said concert. One time use though.

Went to the zoo with my mum and 4.5 year old niece. Niece wasn't really that interested and spent most of the day in the pram refusing to get out and look at stuff. Mum and I had fun. I liked the giraffes.

Got picked up by friends at about 11pm and driven down to the beach to fly kites, eat chocolate, and share presents. I was given an LED watch.

My brother got an Xbox One. I didn't.

I got a radio for my car, a few cool t-shirts, some braces, a jerkin, a horrifying Christmas jumper and a woolly hat with a Christmas Pudding design, and a script of William Shakespeare's Star Wars: Verily, a new hope.

VADER: For certain, I have waited, Obi-Wan.
And now at last we meet together here:
Our destinies once and for all fulfill'd.
The circle of our lives is now complete-
A student was I when I left thee last,
But now I am the master over thee.

OBI-WAN: Thou art a master, Darth, I know 'tis true,
But only evil hast thou Master'd yet.

[they duel.

VADER: In time thy pow'rs have weak become, old man.

OBI-WAN: And yet thou canst not win, I'll warrant, Darth.
For if thou strike me down, e'en now, e'en here,
I shall more great and powerful become
Then e'er thou hast imagin'd possible.

VADER: I tell thee plain: thou shouldst not have return'd.

I got the flu. I think Steph got me a movie, but it hasn't come in the mail yet. Still, not disappointed at all. I'm in my thirties, and had five kids to buy for (I got presents for Steph's ex's kids too, since he wasn't really going to be able to give them a Christmas), and at this point, this time of year has nothing at all to do with me getting stuff, but just making sure that kids don't feel left out. It went really well. Everyone was really happy.

OANST is in the third stage of Santa. At first you believe in Santa, then you don't believe in Santa, then you are Santa, then you look like Santa.

I got my sister some Crusader Kings II DLC, my other sister a pile of vegan chocolate, my Dad a box of toffee, and my Mum some pearl earrings (she had the sense to tell me what she wanted).

I got pants, socks, jumpers and deoderant of varying seasonality, a useful-looking artist's manual, Making Money (sequel to Going Postal), both versions of V for Vendetta, a Harvey Danger album, a My Morning Jacket album, The Graveyard Book (in case Joe finds out I've never actually read anything by Neil Gaiman), The Stepford Wives (following a conversation with my Mum in which it was revealed that I didn't understand what it was about) and a Tom Gauld comic book about Goliath of Garth, along with various chocolate.

Oh, and a can of rum-soaked sultanas. Y'aaaarrrr.

I thought you might not watch it if you thought it was just for those with a history of celebrating Christmas.

I don't usually get thoughtful stuff at Christmas because I'm the hardest person ever to buy gifts for, but my aunt and uncle showed everyone else up this year and got me The Day of the Doctor on DVD. I don't even think they watch Doctor Who any more, but they still thought of me not being in the country to see it.

It's weird because I kept meaning to download it since I got back from Europe on the 13th, but I just didn't get around to it.

I also got some clothes from my parents, but most of them didn't fit. I felt really bad having to take 3/5 things back. It's far from the first year it's happened, so I don't think they mind too much. I ended up exchanging the two shirts for totally different ones, because they were low on stock after boxing day sales. I now own a salmon shirt with black spots.

We had my brother and his family over for lunch for their first Christmas in Australia since they moved back from England. My 5 year old nephew Galen was very excited, and I basically spent the entire time looking after him. It was exhausting. We ran around outside (I jogged), we built some of his new toys and we just sat and talked. I can't believe how good he is at telling stories for 5. My bro said that they asked him what his favourite thing about Christmas was, and he said "building the Hotwheels with uncle Tom." They asked what his second favourite thing was, and he said "building the Lego with uncle Tom!" Cool uncle status: acquired.
