I messaged Ajiellyn about trying to record the Slig shouting help and I got it from the Demo version of AO...along with some other sounds. But I don't know a thing about Audacity or how to cut the sound so I can just have that one "help!" and to get it off there...

Any one know how to?

Hi everyone!

FAQ

When will the native tribal area be started?
After I complete the factory area. I hate to look like I'm leaning towards the industrialists, but I'd rather do things one (big) step at a time.

Why isn't the dream up?
A Furcadia dream will unload itself after there is no one in it for about ten minutes. A proxyless Furcadia account will also log off after ten minutes of inactivity. Therefore I cannot keep Slig online and the dream tends to unload every night.

What are the best times to find you or the dream?

I am awake for uploading at around 11AM FST and I go to bed and log off at around 1AM FST. To see what FST it is, type time in Furcadia.

Can you make scrabs tapdance?
Yes, there's a gif of one in TOGG I'm going to screenshot and draw over

Why can't I shoot while holding something?
When you hit F3, you are executing the 'use' of an object. The way to shoot a gun, for example, is to 'use' object type 0 -- nothing. If you are holding something, you will be using an object type other than 0, and the effect will not occur.

What's all that pink stuff in the production area?
Those are temporary objects I put down when I mapped out where the conveyor belt would go and when. You'll be able to walk along it and follow meat from grinding to packaging to closing to stamping to checking to shipping, but remember for roleplay that the factory is not this small.

-- Roleplaying in Furcadia --

Furcadian RP has its own set of customs. Think of it as going to another country which speaks the same language as you do.

- The Consent Rule -

Furcadia has this guideline called the consent rule for roleplay. It means that if someone does something to your character that you don't consent to, you can just pretend it didn't happen. For example, if you're roleplaying with your friends and someone uninvited comes in and 'kills' your character in one swoop, you can tell them to leave you alone and continue.

- OOC -

[OOC notes and chatter should always go in brackets like this. You don't need to type OOC:, in Furcadia it is assumed that anything between brackets is OOC.]

- How to begin -

Try to have a description of some sort or [Open for RP] at the end of your character's desc. Just go on ahead and ask aloud or whisper to anyone you're interested in RPing with. If they say yes, find a spot and begin!

- Do I need to be in an accurate area? -

No. If you feel like RPing in the production area about being in the gambling room, that is perfectly OK. Just because something isn't there doesn't mean you can't pretend it is so long as your RP buddies don't mind.

- How should I write out a post? -
Most RP posts, with the exception of oneliners, you begin with a :. If I said:

:chuckles. "This ain't too hard."

It would appear as:

Slig chuckles. "This ain't too hard."

Other stuff:
RP in Furcadia is usually done in groups of 2-5.
Post length doesn't matter, but I advise that everyone agrees to a standard size and sticks to it for that RP.
A one-line dialogue RP (called a 'oneliner') is fine too.
There is no continuing story you need to worry about. You can set it in any game in any time, so long as the people you're roleplaying with agree with that. You can also roleplay as a main character if the others don't mind. Basically, anything goes, so long as everyone agrees. [Be sure to ask in OOC first!]

I really encourage RP even now that the dream is incomplete.

The morning report:
The factory area is about 55% done.
Kitchen = Needs concept art
Gambling Room = Needs concept art
Kitchen = Needs concept art
Lab = Needs concept art
Entrance room = Needs concept art
Train Station = Train needs to be drawn or ripped
Production area = Mapped out, needs custom patches
Warehouse = Complete
Meat Storehouse = Complete
Stockyards = Needs working voice locks, holes in fences, and NPC livestock
Executive office = Needs custom patches
Mudokon bunks = Needs working voicelocks
Slig Bunks = Needs custom patches
Target Area = Needs planning on my part

Thanks for all of the encouraging comments everyone, and I apologize for the downtime lately. I have bad news though: school starts for me August 9th. I'm moving into 12th now and I have to read Ralph Ellison's Invisible Man, Beowulf, and a huge ugly novel in Spanish for the summer. I left everything for the last minute so I'm going to be doing my summer schoolwork now and I won't be able to do much else till the weekend after the 9th.

Any hope on letting mudokons slap sligs/glukkons/each other?

Where's the fun in beating up a Mudokon if you know they can fight back?

Aji, I have a few ideas that I would like to tell you
Munch's Master may have already mentioned this to you, but I found a script that consists of an NPC bartender. Unfortunately my technical abilities and knowledge is very limited. However I did edit your Vykker to make a bartender

The bartender could go in the Canteen and serve drinks.

And thins such as Chicken Legs and Beer could be replaced with Roast Clakker and Soul Storm Brew.

I also thought of something that would make the dream seem a bit more lively, extend the reality of the dream, add NPC's such as Mud's scrubbing the floors. You don't even have to be able to react with them, they could just be animated objects stuck on the floor, like a table or something. I don't know how easy it would be, but the animation is already there right?

And Maybe some Sligs stood around talking, chatting, mumbling like they do in MO. Or sit them in the seats of the control room or the lab.

I think that NPC's, even if simple one that don't do anything would make the factory seem a bit more real, and more entertaining to play when it's just you in the dream

Today I couldn't sleep at night so I decided to play this game at 6 o clock (usually I get up at 12 o clock :P) but that Furcadia told me that dreams are not avalible at the moment... Why??

I think loads of NPCs would actually detract from the realism myself.
AlienMagi, if you'd read the rest of this thread you'd know that that happens all the time, and if you'd read Aji's last post you'd know why.

Yeah, I trhink the number of NPCs should be kept low- bartender, Stockyards animals perhaps, mayeb some Greeters at the entrance area, and the NPCs for the eventual 1P minigame that was considered a while back. Venddos and Chant Supressors too, if they count/operate as NPCs.

I'd vote against NPCs. Life's hard enough for Aji with all the dream work she's doing now, not to mention that NPCs twist - if not ruin - the magic of the dream. You won't get much feedback from an NPC for surrounding it with straw...

On other news, Gambling Room concept art... Sorry, I tend to draw Inhabitants among the design.

I love the ideas of Greeters. They are an NPC I would really like (More than the Mudokons I suggested before.) Just moving back and forward all the time "Hi" "Here Boy" "huhuhu"

I like your Gambling room art Dripik. I did a concept of my own, for the Entrance room:

I used the Glukkon walls and floors that I ripped from the GBA version of MO to edit the current entrance room.

Someone
(gives evil eyes to Wings of Fire) thinks it's too glam for a factory, in particular a Slaughterhouse. But my reasoning behind it was that Glukkons would want to make a good impression on the visitors. Meh...

I think it looks great Fuzzle Guy! The Glukkons wouldn't bother making the factory look nice, just their own rooms, as they only care about themselves.

I did a really rough drawing of a kitchen, I'm a crap drawer, and it looks way too big.

I did a concept art for the Glukkon office (I made kind of a mess of the walls, but it's good enough.)

Again, the pillars, the desk and the walls are ripped from the GBA version of Munch's Oddysee.

I made a Steef head to go on the wall of his office (Although I'm sure Aji would be able to do a better job at it if she likes the idea of the Steef head.)

In other news Aji, there's an annoying glitch that makes crawling sligs float in the air when sitting and facing southwest. Also, when a mudokon sits facing north east it sinks into the floor.[/stingy]

The floating Crawler glitch is Ok IMo. Means you can create the illusion of sitting on otherwise unreachable tiles. The mudokon glitch though, yeah.

Oh, and I promise I'll have a Cafeteria concept up soon.

I just logged off from Furcadia after a fun game of Mud Hunt. We also had a conference of sorts before that in the Cafeteria, which was immortalized by the ones present, including me.

I have some horrible news.

Yesterday evening there was a thunderstorm and a weird power outage where the lights flickered for a long time and then shut off. After that, my computer would not turn on. (I'm on my brother's laptop right now). This laptop does not have the Oddworld files on it, so until my computer is fixed, I cannot reload the dream. I have a feeling the ram card burned out because the fans turn on and all, but there's no beep! from the HDD.

I'll probably pull something crazy like sticking my HDD into someone else's computer, so I'll see if that works when my dad gets home.

I'm really sorry everyone. =(

On a lighter note?

@NPCs: I'm reluctant to put in too many NPCs in a place where someone can be. For now the only place I'm positive I'll use any is the stockyards.
@ the crawler/mudokon glitch: Oops, this is as simple as me drag/drop repositioning the crawler but I keep forgetting to do it.
@ concept art: Thanks guys, this is looking great! Don't worry about art quality; so long as I can understand what's there, it's all good.
For Fuzzle Guy: That wallpaper and flooring isn't too glam for any Glukkon's room. I might not put it in the entrance, but I'll definitely use it in the office. I also have a tip for you in doing Furcadia-scaled pixel art which I just found out recently: In the FSH editor click Edit -> Skew -> Wall SE or Wall SW. That should skew a 2d object isometrically. I used that little trick to rip some Paramite and Scrab meat posters right off TOGG (after adjusting the size and contrast in photoshop). I like that you seem to be interested in pixel art; see what you can do with it.
@Mudokons slapping eachother: Yes!
Welcome back Hulaabeo!

If you're bored enough, PokeParadise is still up for now (furc://pokeparadise) though I don't know how long that'll last if I can't get my HDD working by tomorrow.

Damn. So this is the terrible news you were going to inform me of yesterday on Furcadia? Man, I hope it can be sorted out. Losing all your computer files would have to suck, and as far as the Dream goes, restarting from scratch would be a nightmare. Hope it can get sorted out, Aji.

This is why important files should be backed up. When things get going, try emailing the dream files to yourself (email to your own email account) so you'll have it saved on the internet; relatively safe if your PC should die again.

So, just got even newer news fro mAji on Furcadia.

Her computer is fixed! The RAM card wasn't broken, and the old unplug then plug in method worked.

Yay.

This is such wonderful news.

:
Thanks, I'lld do that.

Yay! It's back up! Though I'm the only one here at the moment.
Though when I posted the link to go there it didn't work but I found her portal and it worked.
