My last post was totally relevant. It showed that out-of-wedlock births are on the rise enormously in England. Most of these are to children. Other people were also talking about the high amount of teenage and out-of-wedlock births. I believe that being fast and loose with morals and not properly teaching people the consequences of their actions along with our society's crumbling confidence and belief in marriage are responsible for these trends. This also ties in with my other post about bastardy. England levels of bastards and teenage births were on the rise and are steadily becoming worse. Therefore, more bastards and teenage parents spawning more bastards and teenage parents. Simple.

Bastardry need not be bad. My mother had me when she was around 38 or 37. My father, her boyfriend of many years married her in 1994. I am a bastard but my grandma isn't 30. It depends on where in society you are raised and what your parents do or don't teach you.

Gah Statikk it is NOT relevant, as this isn't a discussion about the age of goddamn consent. Go whinge about that somewhere else.

It was also to stop a child being born into "sin"

I wonder who made up the more obscure rules of Religion...hmmmm...

well now, I know this is old now, but I still wanted to say one last thing here .

I left for a while because I expected this to get ugly, and hoped it wouldnt, Jacob responded just like I expected, but the forum in general responded like I hoped.

Jacob

"Well, when we've used them with this society and we're still coping perfectly well, they can't be that bad."
I think that just says it all, you just couldnt say anything more conformist and simple minded, we're most definitively not coping very well. if you ever come back to this, and what to know what's wrong with society, go read "las venas abiertas de america latina" by eduardo galeano. OR "Race and manifest destiny" by Reginald Horson you will have a hard time fining the last one though, it's pretty much banned from any country with any relation to US, it's only in one place in my city (Bogota colombia) and it wont even turn up a result in Google.

I still think you could actually turn up to be an intersting person if you someday look at yourself and wonder if you MAYBE are being one hell of a jackass, AKA taking responsability for your acts.

something like what jacob did here should be moderateable and almost worth a ban, it's pretty scary how none of you saw that.

EDIT: OK, did NO ONE see this link? I'm disappointed not even dino commented on it

www.ipce.info/host/martinson

So okay, I still think it was a great thing what dino did here, and I was really glad to see a topic like this, I'm probably leaving till...he makes another topic, or something actually HAPPENs in this forums

Much as I love you Caracal, and want to make passionate love to you on the bearskin rug down by the roaring wood fire, I think you're maybe overreacting just a tad. And taking sides, just a tad. Yes, what Jacob did here was clearly stupid and an act of his refusal to do anything but conform, despite being someone who considers himself to be quite phisophical and controversial, but I don't think reviving a flamewar over it will solve anything.

You've not really... said... anything. You just kinda told Jacob to read a few books, and told him that he's an asshole and that I'm kinda great for starting an interesting thread. I can't really see how that would do anything but wind him up and get him to rant here even more... Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the amazing strength of the posts you've made here, but I don't think your last post was really one of those posts. It's great that you're showing such enthusiasm and willingness to see my point from the detatched-from-society point of view, but could you, perhaps... put more points in? I know that his point about society working well as it is was simplistic and conformist but could you quote something from one of the books or something?

Cheers.

oh, I know exactly what you mean, but I've concluded it's not worth any of the effort, I dont think this is ever becoming an interesting argument and quite frankly dont care what the hell will happen with this thread. that was a completly selfish post.

Caracal, you didn't respond to my PM, but i'd still like to know exactly how old you are.

Oh, and what's the point of bringing up those books if i can't get them, you didn't even tell me what they were about and why they were relevant to the quote you took from me.

And okay, so i might be quite happy to conform when it comes to such an issue. But it's like i said before, i can't exactly see how it'd really help or contribute to society.

But meh, and ban me? Yeh, okay, sure(!)

Uhm...? So you basically... wow. You caught me by suprise.

I apologise, I obviously got entirely the wrong impression about you. I thought you were an open minded, decent individual, but clearly you're a total asshole.
