Because I'm interesting in the genetic aspects as well as bee sociality and I like to think I'm doing the local flora a favour. It's all good shit maaan!

Just me although once or twice my brother has stepped out to offer a hand, it's getting to the point where it's regularly a two man job but no one will help (no bee suits big enough for my dad) and the hives get propolised up which is horrible because that shit it as strong as super glue when it sets on wood.

I'll assume his bees will lazily defend their nest; half fighting back, half working.

I always feel sorry for pugs - Friendly dogs but they always seem to have breathing difficulties and many health problems due to their inbreeding. It saddens me that people breed these things just for appearances...

African Killer Bees are not aggressive unless disturbed and generally do not attack other bees.

Yes but won't they mate with your queen, thus producing killer bee offspring? And collecting honey they could consider as a disturbance...

Right, that's enough bee discussion. And more than enough "Let's try to rile STM up by mocking his bees" discussion too.

EDIT: STM posted at the same time as me. Don't take that as an excuse to continue that conversation.

The possibility is there but fortunately the venom in a bee sting doesn't hurt me at all, only the initial stab actually hurts now for some reason so it wouldn't be too much of a problem. And any way, it's very easy to find and kill potential killer bee usurpers.

EDIT: You'd be surprised how protective we apiarists are of our bees but thankfully the arguments are ill informed and jokingly banal so it's all gooood!

You'd be surprised how empty my care cup is, was and will forever bee.

In the past I have had four dogs, one snake, one rat, three cats and a lizard.

They have all without fail died.

Well why not, bees are livestock and in the broadest sense I treat them as I would a pet, I feed them, care for them and check to make sure they are healthy.

I once had a kitty named Chilli that ran away... or something ... I used to dream about him for like a half year before getting getting over it properly Sometimes I still think about him. It broke my heart when I found his cute collar in my closet I never got to give it do him.

We have a big lazy rabbit named Pinto:

He's dumb and likes to smush into/under things. Then he can't get out:

I used to have a Pit Bull named Scarlett, but I called her Coosie. Also Coosietron-5000. She lived to be 17 years old. Was my best friend. Miss her:

She was in love with my Mom's dog Scruffi. Well, he loved her. She..tolerated him.

If it wasn't for the active requirements for having a dog, I'd probably get one. Dogs in some ways are much better than kitties(only they are not as cute :3).
Dogs have a more relatable body language i suppose.... One thing that really fascinated me once, was when I was sitting at the park. There was this fountain with like four 'beams' of water going up. Then there was this cute dog, who kept jumping into the beams. Just mindless fun. Not a lot of animals engage in just mindless fun. It always has to have a purpose as far as I know. But this dog really just seemed like it was happy and just having fun.
I guess that is one of the key factors in whether or not we relate to animals. x_x

I may also just be talking out of my ass Also I still love kitties more cos they are fluffy and cute. I wanna eat them... like BANANAS! NYAAARH!

Our rabbit engages in mindless fun by zooming around in every direction, coming to screeching halt[s], and jumping up into the air for no god damned reason while contorting himself in ungodly ways.

It's something that most rabbits do as a form of play/expressing happiness/jubilation. It's been dubbed 'doing binkies' [ugh] by rabbit owners, and it's hilarious. Especially for us, because Pinto is such a fat lard. Unfortunately we haven't caught him on camera, but an example:

As far as cats go, I'm definitely more of a dog person. I've committed to rescuing Pit Bulls and other 'bully' breeds for the rest of my life, but can't until we own a house as renting with a bully is next to impossible. Some cats are okay, though. I have a soft spot for the special-needs and ugly kitties. Like the one my mom is currently fostering at her house:
