Raw egg doesn't really have a taste. It isn't until the proteins emulsify through cooking that it gets it's "eggy" flavor. Store-bought egg nog is made with hyper-pasteurized eggs, to give it a longer shelf life and prevent contraction of foodborne illnesses like salmonella. Thing about pasteurized eggs is that they don't give it the creamy, frothy consistency of the homemade variety.
If you're a healthy specimen and you're careful, you're not very likely to experience any side-effects of consuming raw eggs. So mix a batch and drink up!
