I'd just like to point out that in mine, the concentration of hair is supposed to be of the level at the top of the head across the entire area, I just suck at drawing hair in profile (since it looks thicker nearer the 'edge', so I usually end up doing too much). The whole tapir-coat thing around his waist was certainly not intentional.
EDIT: Since we're all posting pictures, I always thought that since Sligs have a tail, they probably evolved from some slug/eel/tadpole/shrimp/newt/
Anomalocaris thing. Tentacles for sifting through mud, finned tail, semi-prehensile forelimbs for pushing through water plants etc.
