Does it tell us the names of the 4th and 5th heros? And Sqeek's species name?
No it doesn't tell us any future hero's name, neither does it tell us the name of sqeek's species.

I never really understood the thirst for such facts. When the times come, we'll know those details. I don't feel like I'll understand Oddworld any better. Unless, of couse, there's a name or species that we already know.

Maybe some kids can't wait because they have so much time they can think EVERYTIME about Oddworld and Oddworld related thing... I used to do it until I went to secondary school.

Question: why in AO and in AE when something explodes (for example a mine or a bomb) Abe falls to the ground but the other Mudokons don't?
How can you think of these questions and not think about oddworld 24/7?

I'm planning on getting the atrbook after I get some things like a a new computer, a new mouse, a new/bass flute. It isn't particularly high on my list of priorities at the moment.

Nate, it's really annoying to come on and see a post deleted by you because of spoilers Now I wanna know what you know that we mere mortals don't!

The Artbook did give us new information about the next chapter in the quintology, but at the time that was Stranger, and now we know lots more about him.

The real interest for me (other than the 'purdy pictures') is the stuff it told us that should have been in 'Munch' and wasn't, like stuff about Maggie and Sam (though there's precious little of even that, it must be said). It does give you a sense of how incomplete Munch really was when it was released, and how that sort of crippled the series for Abe. It's section on Munch's Oddysee has loads of concepts and ideas thirsting for further development.

What? I thought the Artbook was only like a few years old?

There is only a very small sneak peak at SW at the end of the book, it's totally spoilers free for SW

For some reason I never even considered buying this book until just a week ago. Should be arriving 12/30 - that is, unless it's intercepted by terrorists, which would suck majorly. Any reason why shipping set me back $18?

Because it's shipped from Australia. Now you are starting to know how I feel every time I order something from Amazon.

I'm probably going to buy the hard cover edition tonight. Can someone tell me what the difference is between the soft/hard cover edition, limited edition, and folio edition? Cheers.

None really...

The Soft Cover and Hard Cover only have one obvious difference... the cover

The Limited Edition has a leather cover, but you miss original cover art made by Raymond Swanland. On the other hand it's numbered and you get a certificate with it.

The folio edition is supposed to be even better in quality and comes in a nice box, I'm not sure if there are any other changes, Max should know, he owns one.

The important point is that there is no variation in the contents at all

Wow Xav, I thought there was actually a lot of bonus content in the limited edition and folio edition. Hmm they seem a little overprices just for a certificate and slightly better quality

I was personally disappointed in that the book showed very little of what we haven't already seen. Granted, it had high quality of drawings we only saw in secondhand photos. I love the book though, its great to be able to look down into my lap and see all the pages of Oddworldian glory.

Another thing that annoyed me, however, was how they neglected certain pictures. The book lacked some of the rendered images of the creatures used in the manuals, and seemed to only tease us even further by displaying never-before-seen artwork in thumbnail format in the corner of the page next to a small caption. I was also hoping for the pictures in Lulu's office that lampoon famous paintings like The Mona Lisa and Looks Like Four of a Kind, as well as Lulu's face on SLIME magazine.

In my opinion that would kill the whole point of the art book. You could probably get most of the information that's included within the artbook on the internet already, a PDF version would be pointless.

Having all the art and information in a pretty book is what makes it special...
