I always pictured Sqeek as one of the Ratz you see briefly in MO

Ratz are merely the eyes and ears of the Almighty Raisin, hardly hero material I'm afraid.

Abe is merely some lowlife slave that originally LIKED his job at RF, or atleast didn't seem to mind it, killing off species that were originally sacred to a belief that he himself was new to at the time. I don't think that makes him good hero material either .... ahem, point is, even a lowly Rat can be a hero.

But I would still go against the idea of it.

Having a rat as a hero is similar to having a security orb as the hero.

A security orb as a hero would be pretty awesome.
And by awesome I mean fucking retarded.

Nice Xavier, I've never seen that before. If I could of chosen one of the canceled games to be released I would probably go with Fangus.

I think a security orb would be a great main character; choosing when to sound the alarm, zapping where necessary, the difficult moral choice of listening to your evil Glukkon masters or turning a blind eye to the chanting Mudoken in the corner. Camera mechanics a la Beyond Good and Evil... really, I can see it happening.

When you think of Wall-E, a security orb CAN make a great hero. Just as much as a rat (Watch N.I.M.H) can.

But they most likely won't star in their own games.

I already designed a security orb hero, but it was actually the custom-built avatar of a mysterious cyberpunk character hidden in the bowels of some industrialist city.

But such an idea would not be suitable for the Almighty Raisin. He sees and hears things via the rats, but influences events by advising those who seek his wisdom. As far as game experiences go, Oddworld: Raisin's Narcolepsy world be rather passive.

He's a living thing sympathiser. It's hard to find genuine enemies of the Raisin.

I always suspected that...

Especially when a typo in the Universe section of ow.com produced the phrase "Raisin's Liar".

Not in the least bit. The Vykkers, as distressed as they are with the fleetingness of life, would love to cut up a 14 000 year old being to
see what kept it going.

Yeah. We could gather up some people and make a fan-made oddworld game for an easily moddable game like Neverwinter Nights, wouldn't be the same thing as a new game but still would be nice.

Hang on, the Raisin has all these Mudokons floating around him. Doesn't that imply he's kinda on their side? He is also one of the tree huggers. Doesn't that explicitly tell us he's on their side? Oh, and if these Ratz are the eyes and ears of the Almighty Raisin...i have to ask...why do we see them peering into Vyker's Labs' dustbins?????

Everyone thinks Raisin is on the Mudokons’ side. It’s a future plot twist that he’s not, which I shouldn’t have revealed but drunkenly did.

You see a Rat peering into a Vykkers Labs bin because rats tend to look in bins for food. I don’t think every Rat is hosting the Raisin’s astral projection at the same time, and even if they were that wouldn’t stop them having to go about their normal ratly duties to survive.

New species is always a good idea, so long as they don't go too overboard with it.

You're kidding right? I doubt we've seen a tenth of the sentient species of Mudos yet or a thousandth of the fauna.

Not quite what I meant. I mean it's great to introduce new species and characters, just not too many at a time.

Otherwise it can be hard to accept as Oddworld, particularly if familiar characters are missing and the design styles have changed.
