Mudokons have feather-like hair.

It'd be nice to see some more info on Slegs, apart from their appearence. Some pics would be nice too, but that's just me.
Sadly, there's very little we know about Slegs, so it's not one of the articles I'm concentrating on writing. I'd love to include pictures, but I've not yet got the layout nailed for that.

my name's Zav now
Hmm, a misspelling curious similar to the popular photocopier brand ‘Zerox’…

Yeah, the Z key's right next to the X key. I wasn't implying anything...

Is it pronounced "Ek-zay-vee-yer" or "Zav-ee-yair/yer"? I can't tell.

Well, I'm getting the art of oddworld inhabitants soon (finally+yayness) and that hould allow me a closer look at the hair. But from what I've seen, it looks like a single lump of fat. Actually, maybe that's why they have it. Brain food LOL*shot*
And I suppose you haven't played Stranger's wrath then? Since they're (Slegs) in that. Well, they SHOULD be, judged on all the sites and such I've seen...
And would you think Slegs are a related species to Slogs, or just a different breed? I think a more toughened up/less primitive species that uses it's tusk like teeth to root for things and dig out burrowing prey. Their teeth design is more specialised, they're bigger and a more overall complicated species, but probably not as fast. A more specialised species, at any rate.

I sure have played Stranger's Wrath many a time. It's just that there's very little to write about them. They're essentially identical to Slogs. Slegs are to Slogs as wolves or coyotes are to domestic dogs. In Earth terms, they belong to the same family.

Oh yeah. Steef are the strange ones, with six limbs! Forget the paramites, fleeches and Gabbits, it is the steef that are wierd!

Actually, only a few genes control the most major parts of our body's layout. It would not take a huge mutation to produce more limbs, but controlling them and having a morphology with a place for them is another matter entirely.

There's a good sleg render in TOGG.

Sorry, haven't heard of TOGG. Hopefully I won't be disgraced too horribly. I'll try and look for it, though.
EDIT: Ah, I recognise this, found it. Now to find the Sleg...

An unlikely scenario, so of course I have prepared for it. It's just under When zombies attack and Curse of the man-eating cars on my list. I never go anywhere without my trusty sleg beating stick (actually a boomerang tied to a wooden spoon).

that's getting off topic BM

in my opinion, paramites are related to sligs more than anything else.

When I first saw pictures of those two in a magazine, I believed (to my eternal shame) that paramites were what you get when you removed a slig's mask and pants. I also got the strange idea that every other Oddworld creature was based in some way on hands. Cue hundreds of drawing of mutant hands in an attempt to design my own creature. I was eight at the time.

LOL

Referring to the hand thing, they're heads are completely different. Paramites' have strong, bony 'fingers' with claws at the end, while Sligs have floppy tentacles (I don't think they have bone in, I've never seen them move without the heads being shaken etc.). I think it's more coincedence than anything. I mean, the head are still otherwise different in everyway, the main difference being that Sligs have eyes. Possibly. They may not, the mask may just have motion sensors implanting to the Sligs brain with the info. Hey, the Vykkers gave Munch some robot possesing thing easily, whatever.
Also, what do Sligs look like under the mask? I don't think the tentacles come out of a 'tube' because otherwise the mask couldn't fit on as tight as it does if there was more flesh in the way. Even crawling Sligs have the masks, even, just look closely.

Yes the paramite hand and the slig hand is very different. I don´t know how a slig looks under its mask but it is said that it is so ugly that your brain will explode.
Are there other oddworld creatures with abnormal big hands like mudokons?
What will you think if i named searexes "mareimperator marerex maximus (C.)" so the species will be "marerex" (seaking/searex) and the genus will be "mareimperator" (searuler) and the subspecies for the very big searex will be "maximus" (biggest). And please write something in my fanfic topic named: "the first of equals fanfic".

Have you, by any chance, been on the Oddworld Forums in the dim and distant past? I remember somebody saying just such a theory long before the Forums moved to vBulletin.

Yes, I did have a brief look around eons ago, but that conclusion was made independantly about 30 seconds after seeing AO in action.

In the Art book there are pictures of Big Bro Sligs without masks.

You can say that they are all based on hands...and you can say that teletubbies is a metaphor for Christianity

Look, I know that they are not all based upon hands. No one would have ever come to that conclusion without paramites anymay, but then people look at the pedipalps of the sligs, the scrabs' legs, mudokons paws (huge!). You start seeing them everywhere. Someone I knew once insisted that the slogs' frill was supported by a row of fingers. It's like some kind of hysteria! Still, there's no argument with the paramites.

I never thought that about Scrabs or Slogs. everything else I did. Well, when I was younger I used to think Sligs looked like they had someones hand hanging out their mouth. Doesn't look like that to me now so much.
How come Abe's head thing odoesn't look like a feather, yet Tomahawkers etc. actually have feathers growing out their head? Insane, eh? Also, Bigface should have a ton of feathers. Maybe he has allergys*shot*
Glukkons have pretty big hands. They don't use them to very good efficiency, though. They should get the Vykkers to make them weelchair like things, or Slig-pant like things so that they can use their long arms to effect, or maybe even use them well, like holding a gun...
Yup, I wouldn't be surpsrised to see some Gluks in the Sligs rank, a...ugh. Was just thinking of Big-bro Slig. At least I didn't get any images...

Abe keeps his hair tied up in a ponytail, presumably to serve the same symbolic purpose as his lip stitches: to remind him of his past and warn him of the Mudokons' future if he ever fails.

Why don't Glukkons buy mechanical legs from the Vykkers?

I DID think something alog those lines, but I don't see why they didn't adapt to that earlier on, rather than going straight in the early days for the awkward choice. Idiots.
Also, if its of any interest, in the fan corner there is an 'oddworld anatomy' thread started by Strangers Maid. So far there is:
Completely mindblowing Steef skeleton by...well, DUH.
Scrab skeleton and Slig skull by me.
More would be interesting, particularly to see what peoples views of possible skeletons and such may be like. This may also be useful for this thread, since it's also a naturalish thing.

Abe's feather could be a bunch of them tangled together. Or it could just be very greasy.
