Personally I believe that Gamemaker is awful, and is probably the worst possible coding language anyone can choose. I can almost guarantee that my game will look the nicest, especially if I'm making mine in Adobe Flash. Xmas 2009 is still very far away into the future... we're talking 6 months!

Anyway, I wish everyone the best of luck. The important thing is not to give up. Keep doing your best no matter what!
hey im in adobe flash and you may know about functions but ive been using it for 5 years
where is your game alex?
also we will need rules, how about
- no copying resources from another game unless your given permission from the game builder
- if you use a resource from the forum link to it.

Josh and I are using sprites and graphics from the original two games. Can you really top that?
Josh is also using Flash and is likely more experienced.

the possesion orb was introduced in MO, id use statdard possesion if i were you if you want it to be like the original

i know it was an old game i found in my floders from ages ago
lol i once made a game out of many HTML pages and images of abe, it wasnt very dinamic, there was only 2 ways to go about things. By the way, if anyone wants custom Mudokon symbols such as my stoned avitar, feel free to ask.

By the way I noticed a small glitch in the game, for some reason when I died the sprite for the little sign post that tells you about pushing barrels changed into a slightly different sign.

All this talk about Oddworld fan games makes me remember my old game, the first I ever made. I had been working on a glitch-free, side-scrolling, shooting filled sequel. Sadly my processor melted and I lost all my work from back then. My secondary character, Vras the dark-skinned Mudokon, had the possession ability. I used the orb, because its a lot easier to program.

As for Game Maker versus Adobe Flash. I would say both are great for making games. Game Maker is easier to use, but Adobe Flash has the benefit of being so much easier to distribute.
I use both of them myself. I can do everything in Game Maker that I can do in Adobe Flash. It just requires some thought. When making a game anything you think of is possible, you just have to figure out how to do it.

I'm currently working on making games I can make some money off. I'd love to make a Oddworld fan game again now that I have so much more knowledge about programming, but why do something for free when you can be paid for it?

OMG! I didn't know there was more then 1 level, but I accidently pushed a barrel onto a teleporter and it sent me to a new level! I was wondering what all this talk about barrel rides and stuff was about. cool, by the way is there anything after the barrel ride? because whenever I beat it it just starts over.

i like doing it for free unless i dont have a deadline on making the game, then getting paid would be good. im not very punctual you see. lates at school 70%...

right now i'm making the factory levels (trying to find a name for the factory) and need to finish of last 3 levels of the the Mudoochang caves (the mines)
edit--do aneyone have any slig walking sprites straight from the game if so please post here
