Sniffles!
I got to play Oblivion at my friends' place, it was so awesome. Pity how argonians and khajits are the worst species. I love argonians.
Now I'm all hyped up about Oblivion.

Got the game last week, it's too good. One of the things I didn't like were all the bugs. I got locked in a house and had to make a new character once, and I can't complete the Thieve's Guild because the quest log is stuck on a previous quest I've done and handed in. Other than that, it's great and I've completed it. Stats are :

Name : Argus
Species : Argonian
Class : Stalker (Custom Rogue-type class)
Sign : The Shadow
Level : 22

Major Skills : Sneak
Security
Speechcraft
Athletics
Acrobatics
Blades
Light Armour

Now that I've done with him, I plan on making a Warlock-ish class. Stealth was really boring. I used the same armour throughout the entire game (Dark Brotherhood Armour) as it was the only decent stealth one I could find. Found quite a few nice mage robes though.

And anyone know if you can make your character bald? Wanna make an Orc Knight later, but all the hair-styles suck.

Try making it really short, then blend it with the color of your skin.

Might do it.

That's good! If you have the boots on when you fall, then they "break" and are removed from your inventory. If you forget to put them on, there's a glitch in the game that allows you to keep them. Only problem is that you can't remove them from your inventory because they're a quest item, which I'm you've probably found out.
Unfortunately, I died a horrible crunchy death after a dashing escape from the legions of bastiches following me. Only mission I had to do twice.

Needless to say, I wish I knew the glitch, as those boots are coolio.

:
Speaking of glitches, when you're using the... "item" that you get for finishing the guild, DO NOT wear it when you approach a Shrine of the Nine. Your fame will be erased, your infamy will shoot up to 100 (and can be raised from there), and you will have a 500 bounty EVEN if you take off the... "item." Happened to me. Had to get my bounty removed. Now all the guards hate me hardcore.
Haha, that makes me smile so. I use that item quite frequently, especially when looting dungeons and such. I take it off to go back to my house to drop the shit off, then take off the mask, and yield to the guards that attack you, avoiding fines rather easily.

I think my fame and infamy are about the same, about a 67/62 ratio. I don't know whether to consider it a good or a bad thing.

Holy crap! You were awesomeness.

Yeah, the beast races were somewhat botched this time round. Khajiits especially, although I loves me some M'aiq. Argonians are okish, not as megacool though.

Argonians not mega-cool? Blasphemy! Only nice looking race in the game, in my opinion :S.

Oh, and for anyone who cares, I found out some nice glitch. Get a bow and some arrows, and pull the bow back. Go to your inventory and select the arrows you're using, it should say something like ''you can't un-equip this item''. After that, find an item and drop it, then return to the game. Then the item you dropped should be duplicated, the number depends on the amount of arrows you have. You can use them or sell them, but it won't work with every single item though. It's just a faster way to get cash rather than killing poor, old Dorian.

Oh, and if you want a Unicorn mount, head Northeast of the Ill Omen Inn, till you come to a place called Hircine's Shrine (or something) then go slightly South-East of there, and a bunch of Minotaurs will come and try to kick your ass. Pull them back to the Shrine and kill them, then sheathe your weapon and go to where the Minotaurs came from, the Unicorn is there and ride-able. The Unicorn is an annoying mount, though. If you sheathe your sword or start fighting near it, it will go hostile and attack you, so you can never ride it. It doesn't stay still either, so if you dismount, go into a cave and come back, it will be miles away. Finally, you can't armour it. It does have a nice benefit though, as it can't be hurt my normal weapons, only Silver, Magic or Daedric.

Some people will have read that crap on websites already, but if not, there you go.

One thing I'm wondering about though is the Giant Mudcrab. There's some very weak, large Mudcrabs in some caves, but not huge. Anyone read something on the giant one? Only Sea Monster I've found so far was the Giant Slaughterfish, which wasn't exactly Giant

I found a huge slaughterfish at the bottom of some watery cave, he was pretty cool in a pantshittingly kind of way.

Otherwise, I think these things are quest related/heavily scripted.

Yeah... that's the general idea. Upon closer inspection, I find that I can take the item on and off without the 500 bounty "sticking" to me anymore, like it did that one time. Just have to make sure that I don't talk to any Shrine of the Nine things!

Thanks to that damned glitch, I now have a Fame rating of 5 and a Infamy rating of 112. Which I guess is OK, because it suits my character, although everyone hates my guts.

I beat the game and everyone's disposition maxed around 90-100. Is this normal? Made all my speachcraft building absolutely shit.

It sounds normal. Disposition goes up/down in relation to your fame/infamy, and I'm sure you were famous-ass by the time you finished your game.

On a completely different note, TELEKINESIS IS FUN AS HELL. It was so worth training my Mysticism (minor skill) to 25 so I could use it. Only downside is you can't use it to open chests and doors like you could in Morrowind. Poo.

I don't understand Telekenisis at all. It only lets you pick up stuff like skulls, weapons etc., but you can do that already with the LB button. Does it actually do something else?

It lets you pick up things that are far away, then bring the items to you so you can grab them. If the "Grab" text shows up in red, you can pick it up with Telekinesis (RB). Then, you can use (L) to bring the item toward you and (R) to push it away. Press (L) and (R) at the same time to drop the item.

It's handy for stealing stuff, especially if you don't have a very good Sneak skill. My character has a high Sneak skill, but I still use Telekinesis because it's fun. Totally.

Heh, found out about a way to get weightless Daedric weapons. Not sure if it'll work, I'm gonna find out in a few.

Another thing, does anyone know where to rename the houses? I recall the guy from the Anvil house quest talking about some Imperial Archives, but I have no idea where that is...

It's level based. Once you hit 15-20, everyone and their grandmother has Daedric and glass weapons/armor.

Agreed. I have like, many full sets of Daedriac and not even one full set of glass.

What happened to sexy spikey glass?

The glass in this Oblivion is wicked awesome. It's like samurai armor... only made out of green crystal or something. So much better than Morrowind's glass armor, which was irrefutably ugly as sin.

My character specializes in light armor, and glass seems to be much more common than Daedric. I find Daedric cuirasses all the time, but all of the other Daedric armor is pretty rare... meaning it probably has something to do with your proficiency in that armor as well as your level.

Or maybe I'm just imagining it, because I have no reason to pick up Daedric armor.

Regardless, both types of helms (glass, Daedric) are really hard to find.

I was just wondering that, myself. We all know what the daedriac helmets look like from various screenshots, but what the hell do glass ones look like?

I'm assuming (but not hoping) a green ironish helmet.

Not seen a piece of Glass or Daedric yet. I'm level 22 and specialised in Heavy Armour. Do I need to go through an Oblivion Gate? Or some random dungeons?

You'll most likely find some Daedric armor on Marauders or Vampires, both of which can be found in random caves and forts. Also, some higher ranking Dremora carry them directly on them (it's not just their "skin" like some Daedra).

The glass helm is pretty neat... at least it's a lot better than the Morrowind one. It's basically a helmet that comes down to the nose, with separate holes for the eyes. Think of the Gray Fox's gray cowl... it's kinda like that, only made of glass.

Thanks a bunch, got all Daedric now but the helmet. And since Vampires or Marauders don't wear helmets, I might be a little stuck. Tried an Oblivion gate too, the only lootable ones don't have helmets. I suppose it's just a random thing in a chest somewhere?

Edit : Nevermind, I found a very neat way to get the entire Glass/Daedric set. Head to the North of the Imperial City, along the road there you'll find the Roxey Inn. Make sure you're the right level for Glass/Daedric, and go in. There'll be 4 people, one is a woman in full Daedric Armour, the rest are 3 men in Glass Armour, only one of them, which is a Khajit, will have the helmet. Set your settings to very easy so you don't die, and kill the one who has what you want. Then just take the stuff and run outside. There is a guard on horseback outside, and a guard on a bench, so you'll get caught. Just pay the 1000 gold fee, much better than heading to dungeons 24/7.

Or...run and don't get caught.

then pay off the bounty for 500 from a fence.

Cool thing one day, I was chased all around Bravil, soI jumped off the bridge, into the water, and swam until they gave up.

Norman Bates!

By the way, anyone know if the PC Version is worth buying for mods? 360 Version is getting a little boring, since it gets rather apparent you have no choice in what you do. I wanna be a Necromancer and kill the Mage's guild, but the both the Necromancers and the Mage's Guild are giving me a big fat ''NO WAI!11!''. And all these stupid, official downloads. 200 points for some horse armour?

Yeah, no kidding. The Elven one looks lame as hell, anyway. Now if they had Daedric horse armor... I might MIGHT download it. If it were for, like, 50 points, that is.

As for PC vs. 360, there does seem to be a slight decline in replay value from Morrowind. That's not going to stop me from making a second character eventually, but still. PC version might be pretty sweet if you have a PC that can run it. I mean, people poop out third party mods 24/7.

I'm content with 360, but what's really killing the replay value for me is the randomly generated loot. I loved Morrowind because, even up to my last character, I was constantly finding new items and trinkets in secret, tucked-away areas. Randomly generated loot kinda kills that whole charm that treasure hunting in Morrowind had.

Yeah, I know how you feel. I still haven't done many quests in Morrowind (Fighters, Mages...), and when randomly exploring I still find new things. Oblivion is great, but I dunno, nothing can really beat Morrowind. Perhaps it's the absence of pillows.
