Finished season 1 of iZombie. I'd heard of the show, and knew to expect good things, but I had 0 hype and no idea what was actually about until I started watching. I'm glad my friend put me on to it, because it was really enjoyable.

It had a really good ramp through the series, and the last episode managed to balance lots of things happening, setting up for a second season and not being overbearing. Some episodes are much stronger than others, and there are a few shortcomings with the writing style at times, but I strongly recommend it.

Also I've been keeping up to date with this season of GoT. Holy motherfucker episodes 8 and 9 were exciting. I was getting seriously pumped up watching them. The undead sequence was really well done, apart from when they overstepped their mark with the creepy child zombies. The jerky, unnatural way that they moved still makes me think Jason and the Argonauts and I love it. I'm out all day Monday, so I'm going to have to wait for a few hours to see the finale, which sucks :c

Oh, and I've dug into the first 4-5 eps of How to Get Away With Murder, which is ok. If you can ignore some irritating plot elements, and some really irritating characters then it's pretty enjoyable. Apparently it gets better, but I don't know how much more time I'll give it. I can see why people like it, but I wouldn't really recommend it to anyone here.

When did I become this mainstream?

e: Actually I also watched the first 30-odd episodes of Dragon Ball fairly recently too. It's fun, and a hell of a lot better than Dragon Ball Z. The two are chalk and cheese. The fighting sequences did start to overstay their welcome when you had each fight in the World Martial Arts Tournament finals lasting an entire episode, but other than that the pace was pretty good. In the first 12 episodes they found all of the dragon balls, met a bunch of people, stopped a baddie and learned about Goku being an ape-man in an exciting conclusion to the first plot arc.

The humor is weird though, and I doubt I would enjoy it if the entire thing wasn't a huge nostalgia trip. Goku patting people's genitals to check their gender is just... bizarre. So is Master Roshi perving on Bulma, who is 16. She exposes herself to him twice in the first few episodes (Well the 2nd time is a shapeshifter in her form, but same difference). Goku and Krillin having to find a girl for Roshi before he agrees to train them is one thing, but Roshi's pedophilia is another completely. It's pretty obvious the man who wrote the stories was a giant manchild. Although from the direction the series took in DBZ it's no real surprise.

So yeah by 30 episodes it lost a lot of steam and I got bored. It was a lot of fun to relive my youth in them for a while though. Rose tint my glasses any day.

I just saw Mad Max. I was very much reminded of Borderlands and Brutal Legend.

Every time a vehicle exploded I wanted to scream at the screen, "My shiny crotch machine! My insurance preemiums!"

I finished the third season of Orange Is The New Black. It was alright, but in my opinion it wasn't as good as the previous seasons. It didn't really have a primary "antagonist" this time (like Vee or Tucky) and it sort of lacked a cohesive main story arc. They did a great job opening up some of the not-so-cared-about characters' backstories though and character development in general was a huge theme in this season, I liked that. I kind of hated that new character portrayed by Ruby Rose though, she didn't really have any significant role even though everyone was led to believe she did. I was hoping for something... bigger from the final episode(s), it felt more like a mid-season finale than the end of a season which kind of sucked honestly. (Spoilers! Tried to keep it vague though) I'm also kind of bummed that they might have sort of "killed off" some characters, hope that truly isn't the case and they'll return in the next season. Ah man, another year's wait for the next season...

Bringing back this thread because I've been going to the cinema a lot lately.

Firstly, I saw Terminator Genisys.

Whilst I thought the film was a bit all over the place and was really hard to follow, Genisys was a definite return to form and felt like the long lost Terminator 3.

My absolute favorite part of the film was it paying homage to the original 2. You have another T-1000 in an almost identical cop uniform, the original T-800 with some of the best CGI i've seen to make a actor young again and of course the classic lines and look. I honestly enjoyed it because of mainly that. The actual film itself was confusing to say the least.

And yesterday I watched Ant-Man

Talk about a surprise. I wasn't expecting much when I went into the cinema but man I was satisfied at the end. The film doesn't in no way take itself seriously. It knows what the premise is and it has fun with it. I laughed out loud several times, especially during the end; which I won't spoil because it's just too good.

Yeah the story was predicable but it was just an enjoyable film, I didn't really mind.

I recommend both films, but I'd have to say I enjoyed Ant-Man much more than Terminator.

Finally saw Inside Out. It was absolutely fantastic, best Pixar film in years. Might even end up omewhere in the top 3. Go see it.

I saw Inside Out a few weeks ago with Abbey. I can't offer an opinion because I didn't really pay attention to it. The parts I watched seemed okay.

I binged-watched season one of Attack on Titan (I got Netflix Syndrome). That was a lot of fun. And often horrifying, especially in the first few episodes. Now I'm annoyed that I have to wait into 2016 for season 2. Long time fans have been waiting since 2013, I thought the idea of turning up late to the party was that I benefited from shorter waiting times.

Goddammit. At least Bojack Horseman is back.

Recently I got up to date with Steven Universe and man what a great show that is, I can't get over how well done it is. It definitely lived up to the hype.

I'm constantly fighting to get my brother to watch it. It's my mistake for watching some of the weaker and weirder episodes when he was around (Secret Team, Cat Fingers). He's so far watched the first four episodes by himself, and he doesn't really believe me when I say that the first season has a very steep quality curve. He asks me to show him the better episodes but I CAN'T because SPOILERS and that so much of their power comes from previous investment in the show, plot, and characters.

Steven Universe got so much more interesting (not to mention heart wrenching) than I expected. What a great show. Same thing goes for Bojack, too, oddly enough.

Oh, and I decided to give Avatar: The Last Airbender another go, and... well, I've been binging it on Netflix, and I've just reached the third season, and goddamnit why didn't anyone tell me it got so good? Those fight scenes, that character development, that fucking season 2 finale!

So yeah, I'm enjoying the ride.

Yeah, I admit, it took me a little bit to pick up Steven Universe too for the same reasons. I had watched the first few episodes and they didn't stick, and then picked it up again later with a friend. Other friends had already told me that it the second half of season 1 is when it gets really good, so I figured I should stick with it. And it was really worth it.

I'm not sure when I realised I was hooked. I gave it a chance because Rebecca Sugar did my favourite Adventure Time episodes, and at some point I realised that it was the show I looked forward to the most.

Rick and Morty

I can imagine some of you have already seen/heard of this show but seriously, This is the best show I've seen a very long time. Extremely funny and creative - I mean it's so frigging OUT THERE with it's ideas. The characters designs especially. It's also so well animated and very quotable. Pretty much every episode has a line which gets you.

It actually gives me a huge Futurama vibe which is just the best. I guess it's because there both sci-fis. But both of those shows I find.

E: OH! One of the most interesting things about the show is how they use infinite timelines/universes a lot. Really gets you thinking y'know.

Rick and Morty forever and forever 100 years

right? i fucking love that show. it cracks me up how Rick is completely fucking wasted most of the time. then again when you see the shit they get up to, no wonder. must take the edge off.

if you like animation check out Superjail. it's fucking crazy-good animation, i reckon so anyway. here's a link to where you can watch them if you like: http://www.watchcartoononline.com/su...de-10-vacation

the whole lot is there, you can't get to season 1 episode 1 by searching for it for some reason, you have to work backwards through the episodes by clicking 'Previous Anime' underneath the videos until you get to the very first one.

I've started watching Panty and Stocking. I stayed a ways away from that show for a long while (for fairly obvious reasons) but I had always really really REALLY dug the soundtrack. I still do dig the ost and it's good hearing it actually in the show too.

I watched all of The Thick of It on Netflix. If you're a fan of Yes (Prime) Minister, then you'll love it. It's scarily accurate political satire, tied together by a bunch of pompous manchildren and Peter Capaldi yelling in his beautiful Scottish accent.

There were 2 or 3 episodes where it got dangerously close to actual recent events in Australian politics, especially the flat scandal in the 3rd episode. Also stabbing the female leader of your party in the back, and some of the circumstances around that.

Seriously though if you love ridiculous politicians working on their own petty agenda and coming across as gigantic cocks you will love this show. If you think modern UK-style politics is a stupid media circus you will love this show. If you like the idea of Peter Capaldi screaming amazing insults at people then you will love this show.

NSFW, contains very loud use of the word cunt:

The 4th season especially was a much more dramatic change of pace, but they did some good things with the development of Tucker as a character and his eventual downfall. I missed the action-jackson yelling busy scheming problem-solving sequences from the first 2 seasons, but it was still good political satire.

The Thick of It is excellent. Malcom Tucker is definitely one of my all-time favourite characters.

I can't take Doctor Who seriously anymore with him as the Doctor. I mean I didn't anyway, but I'm always expecting to just go on a swearing fit during an episode.

Honestly, if they want to make the show more adult. Just have him go "YOU DALEK CUNTS!"

I've picked up Firefly again. It's so much fun. Great characters, great world. I could say a lot about how much I'm enjoying it, but I don't think I really need to.

I'm sad it took me so long to get around to watching it, but at the same time I don't really want the show to end :c

Good! I've had several conversations with people recently who said they were put off by how slow the first few episodes are and didn't bother watching the rest. I'm glad you're on the right side of history now.
