Yeah they definitely could've toned down the twins a bit, their level of spooky cheese got pretty unrealistic. Still they played a pretty important role. Just could've been executed with more subtly. They're part of why the first half of season 3 is my least favourite stretch of the show.

My only problem with season 5 as a whole is AMC's greedy paws getting all over it, stretching it into two "mini-seasons" for more cash. I applaud the BB team for making it so good in spite of this, but I can't help but wonder what it would've been like had it just been another 12 episode run. Oh well.

Actually Vince Gilligan's gone on record saying he really pushed for the two short seasons - so they had more time to write the final season.

I'm pretty much caught up with Steven Universe now and wooooow. It's really good. Reminds me of Adventure Time only with a more consistently built upon backstory/lore and with a ton of old 80's/90's anime science fiction/fantasy influence. It's super fun, action-packed, creative, and I'm not gonna lie, it's made my heart nearly blow up a couple times now. The way it quickly goes back and forth from hilarious and light-hearted to downright heart-wrenching and depressing is insane, and what's even more crazy is how well it pulls it off so many times.

It's very great and I recommend it to anyone who likes cartoons. Although the Sailor Moon vibes might turn some people off (they turned me off, at least at first), you'll quickly forget all about that because of how darn original and good some of the stories are. Everything grows on you.

Amethyst is my bae.

Also I've finally finally got around to seeing the Mad Max films. I watched the first one yesterday and I saw Road Warrior this evening. Gotta say the first film was a real disappointment because of all the hype but the second one was pretty cool. Gonna watch Thunderdome tomorrow probably but I heard that one will give you cancer...

My biggest issue is the backgrounds. Alone they are pretty, sure, but they are SUCH a different art style. Older American cartoons had backgrounds like these too that didn't interact with foreground things often and were drawn by someone else. The next issue is the character drawings. The bodies are fine, but the faces turn me away. They always just seem off to me. (that and steven's nose nostrils that sick out too far.)

Interstellar

Holy crap. It was incredible.

Outstanding special effects which completely sucked me in. (lol). Space has never been represented so realistically and beautifully before. It's amazing to see how far special effects have come honestly. It's a real achievement.

The soundtrack was breathtakingly. Made the entire film feel more epic, and fitted the scenes like a glove. Yet the lack of any sound in scenes in space really added to the experience. I LOVE when films show space silently (or in other words. Correctly). It really drives home the fact that space is literally mostly empty, dark and silent.

I've been burning through Game of Thrones for the past couple of weeks. Before I watched it I thought it was just going to be a jumped-up LotR clone with lots of cheap character deaths; I'm happy to say I was wrong. GRRM is remarkably good at writing characters with complex personalities and relationships.

... And good at writing unpleasant ends for those characters.

I've watched over 12 hours of various WWII videos on youtube. All about tanks, of course. Some of them were really strange as they weren't designed to be watched by a willing audience, they were tutorials for the soldiers or some other military people on how the M60 Patton worked.

I can't recommend reading the books. Mostly because it's obvious that Martin is a creepy old man, beating his half flaccid, unused cock to his fantasies of giant dicked barbarians fucking twelve year olds.

I don't mind sexuality. I don't even mind the rape of the innocent for the sake of the story. I just get the impression that Martin is a big, gross turd, and is living out his sexual fantasies in these books. If you read his blog, he consistently makes completely tone deaf, weird comments about wanting to fuck the actresses playing his characters.

Well, it's on his blog. Some of his really gross ones got deleted because people (I'm one of them) bitched at him about how inappropriate they were. I actually got blocked from being able to reply to his blog because of it.

I kinda want to power through Game of Thrones some time, 'cause everyone keeps going on about how good it is, but the first three episodes just didn't interest me much. That and there's too much stuff on TV I wanna watch much more than it. Veep, Louie, The Comedians, Steven Universe, Silicon Valley, True Detective, Last Man on Earth... TV's just too good right now!

The first few episodes of GoT aren't actually that great. Season 1 certainly gets better towards the end. I found the books to be far more interesting, personally, because I enjoy how expansive they are, and how they explore each character in depth. Some people dislike the books (Book 4 and 5 having little forward plot progression and a lot more character development and exploration) but if you like that sort of read I'd go for the books.

The show's probably worth a watch, though. You should give the first season a chance at least.

I have a feeling books 4 and 5 could be cut down to about six chapters, and nothing would be missed.

I certainly have no desire to read the books. Someone told me I should because there’s so much more detail in them, but to me the show has just the right amount in it – any more would just be too much.

As for the first few episodes, the first season pretty much exists to set up the plot for the rest of the series. It’s slow, but the second half gets much more interesting.

I'm really loving Stephen Universe. It has so much that other shows don't. Most noticeable this week: redeemable teenagers.

I enjoy Pearl's antics, and Greg is awesome. I always miss Lapis.

I read that Mad Max was thrown into that film as a suggestion by someone who knew the director. It was originally it's own story, so I always figured that thew 3rd film was more of a spin off if anything else.

I saw Avengers 2. There's not a lot I can say about it that aren't spoilers, and I not interested in writing a long, almost fully redacted post.

What I will say is that it was a lot of fun, had some expected turns and a lot of unexpected ones, and plenty of laughs, hints at things to come (few of which had not been predicted by the end of Guardians, they're putting a lot of effort into laying the groundwork for Infinity War, due in 2019, but it's nice to see them confirmed). And I liked the final team line-up, for several reasons. Getting some much-need diversity.
