Yesterday evening some American exchange students came to visit our house for some reason. They made us nachos and proceeded to have us cooking "smores" over the gas stove.
Naturally, I found all this very fascinating.
They called this "root beer". It was cheap, and tasted like dentist's mouthwash. They then put ice cream in it.
This was rather surreal. There is flame behind that questionable frying pan, over which we were setting the marshmallows aflame. I pointed out that methane burns somewhat hotter than wood, and it seemed that roasting marshmallows in the kitchen would remain a minority activity.
