OOC: I could have Doe go around and sabotage the factory if ya want. As he tries to get the other Mudokons to rise with him to destroy Rupture Farms. Though that will definitely call for conflict. It could be fun though.

...No. Nothing good comes out of it. The Vets don't like that sort of activity, me included.

:
But seriously, we do need a twist of some kind. We can't just make our characters walk around and expect something to happen.
Hello? Arnie's sudden conversion to the general Glukkon's attitude?

Don't worry, I'll keep him going on about organising work. But right now, I'm in the middle of a rather lenghty exam period, so I don't really have the energy for writing any IC. Hey, I even made a pause doing my EA comics!

OOC: I also don't like that sort of stuff, and I'm not even a "Vet". Besides, if the hole place blows up and we're all standing in a empty plane with broken necks, how would we role play? Hopefully, as dripik says he will, dripik will get all us schmucks back in line .

But, no rush dripik, we are all aware that you have a lot going on. A lot of us do, me included (I'm suppose to be writing up a lab presentation right now).

Well yeah, that could be a twist, but how long do you think it will last, and how many people could it possibly affect?

We need a super important event to happen; like everybody being stranded in the building with no lights and no food, or a flood, or something. I know most vets aren't a fan of catastrophes, but they're loads of fun and definitely make for good twists. Plus its no fun making our characters walk around and talk to people all the time. Its gonna get old eventually.

Thats why you create plots that people can join in on... Or join in on a plot.... Like back in the early days with Jammer and Red Muse... People joined in on that plot(although it was a miniplot)... There WAS a bigger plots such as the animals getting loose, and stuff like that.. But still.. be careful.. Big plots need time to reach their climax, so everyone can get in on them, and everyone have time to get involved.

The last 7 threads (sorry; the first 6 threads) have worked. (And W@RF 7 contained a lot of big plots).

At the end of the day its the characters that carry the story. That doesn't mean having super-powered freaks or experiments or whatever; it mean giving them interesting or conflicting personalities and such; Dionysia and Skelter nearly had a brawl just cus of who they are for example. Rupture Farms is an odd place, where mudokons have rites and sligs caren't allowed to shoot them for fun. You put slaves and normal industrial sligs and such into the place and that's what makes it interesting.

Events build up on their own; they don't have to be sudden, random and pointless. At the end of the day incexplicable floods and fires don't have any lasting effect, but, to take a favourite example, a while ago Anni (who back then controlled by T-nex) and an old character of mine called Stivik met; their relationship was originally not unamiable; Anni liked him, he at least wasn't bothered about her, but gradually conflict grew between them which has had a lasting effect on Anni (she was once very cheerful).
Even before that there was a big-bro slig called Jammer who was irritable and nasty, unusused to Arnie's niceness law and therefore even more irritable, making him pick fights; eventually he nearly killed another slig and was nearly killed in turn by a mudokon protecting the other slig, and it caused big effects and changed the characters for the rest of their time in the RPG. There have been sligs more willing to accept Arnie's laws and they've also developed. At one point there was talk of flushing out the animals living in the basement and ruined part of the factory, and a slig found himself having to convince the people with him not to.

You aren't expected to just walk around but if other events are to happen they only work if they grow naturally; as I said, Dionysia and Skelter just came within an inch of flaying each other just cus of who they are. Then she coped with her agression by slapping the nearest person who she could hit without looking petty, and that led to this current entanglement (By the way, I'm waiting for SkillyaSlig or Ark, but Ark the mudokon could use the fight between Mola and Ophelia (awesome name!) as a distraction to dive for cover; say the kitchen, and from there to the warehouse, furthering the plot) which is giving half the factory a lot to do while the other half fights the fire. Where might this end with Ark is such trouble? What will it mean for the characters involved?

I think one of the problems W@RF has been having is just a lack of good characters; people join with their hippy muds and hippy sligs holding hands and skipping about and all lovey-dovey and there's nowhere to take them. That's why the RPG flounders.

Big factory-wide-disasters slow things down agonisingly (take W@RF 1 where the last three pages took place in a single afternoon cus of a big animal-breakout whereas the rest of the thread took place over about a week cus the plot was able to move of its own accord, or worse, W@RF 7 where the whole story took place in one morning cus a few animals got into the factory and caused havoc) and make character development difficult. Let events grow of their own accord through characters and the factory environment. That's what makes the story more memorale and the game more enjoyable. Trust me when I say a plot that builds slowly is more fun than a sudden thing; it takes longer and you don't always know where it's going which makes it mre exciting. When Anni hid in the shadows listening to a conversation between Stivik and RG-47 no one had any idea that Stivik and Anni would later be physically fighting each other; one of my favourite experiences in RPGing.

Venks, maybe you could look at having Doe settling as part of the factory to spy and such for a while, and so uncover more about the characters. Already I can see that going in an interesting direction, and it would help him aleviate the suspicion on him.

Plotwise, waiting for Ark and SkillyaSlig...

Words of truth right there...

And yes... It's true tat slowly working on a plot is much funner... If I had done the whole Anni-plot in one week, I would probably have seemed like an attention-whoring newbie. But it just evolved into what it became with time.. In the start I only had a vague Idea of where I wanted to go.. A rough idea.. But the beauty of RPGing is that it'll go places you never expected. Mainly because you're not the only one participating... Others will join in on your plot and develop it. It took a long time for the plot to get where it is now, and it's all thanks to everyone who got involved
So don't rush.. Rushed plots are for newbies.. Thoughtful plots are for goodies!

OOC:Heh, well, even though this is a pretty small thing I just thought I'd point out - even my character Hembar's current conversation with Anni is really helping me develop her as a character, something I have a feeling would be a lot more difficult if one of these amazingly catastrophically catastrophic catastrophes happened (try saying THAT fast ).
So yeah, I pretty much agree with the above, I can't really say how well I've followed it because I find it a little difficult to judge my own performance at anything unbiased, but I definately agree. Anyway, enough pointless rambling from me.

IC:

Anni shook her head again. "One evil person isn't as bad as a group of them, isn't as bad as the Cartel. They don't have restraints, except to stop people becoming more powerful than they are, so they'd do anything to stop them; even worse things."

"I guess you're right... Generally they do tend to make things worse, it's pretty rare for a place outside of the Cartel to be worse. It does happen, but not often."

Hembar paused and thought for a moment, then carried on, "But I think the worst thing with the Magog Cartel is how they stomp out anything that tries to do away with their traditional cruelty and such.

"And this place is actually a fine example of that. I'll have to admit, I do know a fair bit more about Rupture Farms than I was letting on before. A lot of mudokons have started to see this place as a sort of new hope, that it's possible for them to be happy as employees of an industrial factory.
But maybe that's why the Cartel want to stomp that sort of thing out. Perhaps they don't want us having hope!"

OOC: Right, since Cylepso is a slig, no matter how derangedly nice, follows Order, even from weird Vykkers.
IC:
"FREEZE!"
Cylepso half hoped the weird glowing mudokon would do just that, or duck to the ground. Far from it, the native said,
"If I was trying to harm or kill anyone, why would I just give my gun, my only weapon, to her?" He gestured towards the dark-skinned mudokon, causing Cylepso to tense.
She glanced side-ways at the Vykker, Kirk, but it stayed silent.
'Well, an order was an order!' she hissed to herself. She had seen too many places destroyed because the sligs there where far to stupid to do anything.
Eyes narrowing, she pulled the trigger, "BANMBAMBAM!"

OOC: Lol, native can dodge if he wants :P

OOC: And Ark's popularity continues to decrease!
though I wouldn't consider Ark a native...well maybe.

IC: Arks tattooed had stopped glowing completely, just before the slig started to pull the trigger.

Ark saw the slig pull the trigger, his body tensed up and he dodged, dived, and rolled out of the area. He got up near the middle of the room, his tattoos in full glow.

Painting, he looked up and shouted at the slig, "What was that about? Wait... no, typical slig behaviour. Forget the last question. Instead, why would I try to do anything in a place full of gun carrying, trigger happy, sligs? Which you helpful emphasized."

Remembering his position, he stood up straight, and put his hand on the back of his head. His tattoos had dimmed down to a glimmer again.

'At first you think, sure berry body painting, what could happen? But then you start drinking it and your skin gets permanently stained dark, and some wacko shaman covers your body with tattoos. Then when you walk into a city and the next thing you know is that every one's pointing guns at you.'

OOC: And now you know why his skin is dark, he was originally close to Abe's color, but a year of berry juice and supernatural tattoos (that only let him glow ) is harmful to your skin.

Out of Coffee: Right, I guess that makes sense. Where I came from in the roleplaying universe (and where i've been for six years, wowza) roleplays are meant to be fast and furious. Every plot has a dramatic twist, replies come literally in seconds, and an entire 20-page-long roleplay can last less than an hour. I suppose thats why i'm used to characters mauling one another to tatters. ^^

Let me see what kind of reply I can dish out...

BIC:

Ophelia hauled Mola into a standing postion. He stood ridgid, tears of frustration streaming down his face, mouth still gagged, hands still bound.

"All right," Ophelia said calmly, looking around. She stiffened. The situation she had forgotten about hadn't improved; the slig (Cylepso) had even gone as far as to shoot at the mudokon (Ark)!
"Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight..." She chanted, her voice trailing off after she realized nobody was joining in.

---

Skelter wandered closer to the fight with a loud sigh. It wasn't her place to try and calm people down (she was the polar opposite of a pacifist) but seeing as she had an important job to do and hated wasting time, she did so anyway.

"Hey, people," she said, crossing her arms. "Chill. We don't need to be shredding each other over something as erratic as a glowing mudokon, no offence." She shrugged. "But if you plan on ganging up on that coal-colored brat over there, you have my total support."

ooc: Coal-coloured. Yup, that's pretty much right.

IC:
"Are you crazy?" Dionysia hissed at the intern, "If he's a native Odd knows what powers he has. You been living under a rock for 4 years?" With any luck the intern would get too close and the mud would boil her brains out of her ears. In the meantime, Dionysia opted to stay near the door in case the mud made a run for it, but admittedly she was distracted by grubbs. When the female one started chanting Dionysia shot her a withering look.
Dionsyia was not particularly adept at using weapons as she was generally intended for undercover work, but right then she could have done with some sort of gun.

Krik had glanced at the grubbs only enough to ensure they weren't another threat, and then began groping through his bag for his snuzi. He pulled it out just as the slig fired. The mudokon dodged the shot, moving closer to Krik, who panicked a little and fired with more vigour than thought.

(ooc: Feel free to dodge again A snuzi will only stun of course but Krik wasn't particularly aiming it well, and his reactions aren't what they used to be )

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Jim arrived at the lab. There was no one there.
Still breathing with some difficulty, he sat on the table intending to wait until someone arrived, unaware that the two vykkers Dek and Praetyre had quit without making any announcement that very morning for reasons of their own.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Anni looked up at last, in surprise. "There are stories about this place, about how nice it is?" She grinned suddenly, in excitement, "That's amazing! I bet Math told everyone! And all the other mudokons who used to work here! Is that why you came here, cus you heard the stories? You looked surprised when I said earlier that the sligs here were sometimes nice!"

This titbit of information had a sudden and extreme effect on Anni. When she had first come here it had been wonderful, to be away from that place full of vykkers, around new people, new animals. She had been so happy here and the place had indeed been a sign of hope, a new beginning, a relief from all those horrible times in her past. Slowly that image had faded, with Stivik coming, friends leaving, that vykker Dek arriving. Everything she loved had sunk away to be replaced by the pain Nova had brought back to her. The thought that other mudokons might see this place as a symbol of hope allowed her to remember the goodness she had gotten from here, and hope came back to her.

Without her noticing, the tattoos on the backs of her hands, normally faded of colour and almost indistinguishable from her unmarked skin, flooded with colour, one white and one black. And the black one was shrinking while the white one grew larger.

ooc: I'll try and find the post where Anni gained her hand-scars and edit a link or two onto this post. Gretin, its up to you if Hembar notices them, and if she interprets any meaning from them. Anni has her legs tucked up against her chest and her arms wrapped around her legs.

Probably should have mentioned it sooner but since she got shot yesterday she probably has a bandage round her chest and another on her arm. You can forget it if you want; I'm a bit late mentioning it really.

EDIT: Hooray for the Search Thread feature!
Alright, Anni and Stivik just fought each other in the lab (Anni was still controlled by T-nex at this point). It culminated in Stivik stabbing Anni with an anonymous syringe (Anni had done the same thing to him in a rage the night before, but overwhelmed with guilt she had run to get him help) and leaving the lab. She collapsed and realised she was dying, at which point she had a somewhat significant vision. Waking up she had the tattoos.
Since then the black one has grown when she's been feeling particularly angry, often when Nova's been influencing her.
This is I believe the first time the white one has shown any noticed change.

If you want to read around it, for fun or profit (and it is so one of my favourite parts of the RPG, if you overlook anything posted by Outlaw King) then here's a link.

Oh, and just so I don't get any people saying we were godmodding, T-nex and I were discussing the fight over MSN as we wrote it.

OOC: Splat, Dionysia had a gun, its just out of ammo.

IC: This was going no where for Ark. And while one person was saying that they should stop, it didn't seem like anyone was listening.

Ark was about to start making his case again, but seeing a vykker near him get out a gun, Ark decided it was time to leave the room.

The vykker pulled the trigger and Ark thought, 'Why me?' as he dived into a roll, just making it out of the line of fire.

Getting out of his roll he started for the exit. Upon looking up, he saw the mudokon that had thrown his gun, blocking the exit. 'Damn, well I hope I slip past her before she know what I'm doing.' He thought knowing he wouldn't have time to pick up his gun.

Facing her as he come running up and said, "Take better care of my gun." then tried to slip around her.

"It's only two of a kind." he said to her over his shoulder.

OOC: Ark is close enough that Dionysia could still grab him.

EDIT: ooc: I just reworded a few thing to make them more accurate (thanks for pointing that out splat).

OOC: Are they all fighting in the Cafeteria?
IC: Phats finally stopped running though he was still whimpering like a little Sloggie. He had no idea where he was so he sat down and began barking loudly for his master. Hearing his pet's cries Corky ran up besides him. "What..the..heck..were..you thinking?!" He stopped to catch his breath. Phats stopped barking and went up to Corky snuzzling him happily but Corky just pulled away. Trying to get his master's attention the fat Slog then licked Corky's arm. He loaded up his gun and hit Phats hard on the head with it. "You stupid Slog! Why do ya have to go running off like that?!" He stepped away from Phats while loading his gun again. The hurt Slog whimpered and set back down on the floor. A large bruse was no visable on Phat's head. If anyone should try and hurt his Slog Corky wouldn't think twice about shooting them but he didn't care if he hurt Phats. Corky looked around for anyone. "Hello?!" He yelled through the halls loudly. Scratching his head he looked around somemore. "Where is this fire?" He started to get a little angry now. Phats stayed on the floor not whimpering he really didn't wanna get into anymore trouble. "There's supposed to be a fire around here?!" He yelled again. 'DaRn..where'd that other Slig go?' Confused and angry Corky fired his machine gun at the wall. The bullets were bouncing off the wall and onto the floor. There were no Mudokons to shoot at so he took his frustation all on the wall. Phats started barking loudly again. "If ya don't shut up I'll take my anger out on you instead!! Now SHUT UP!!" He yelled at Phats while still shooting at the wall.
OOC: There I changed it. =)

Edit.

.... Neopets? Trust me.. That's NOT roleplaying. That's a mess.

OOC: Wow, everyone is getting cheesed off, eh?

IC:
Cylepso snarled in rage as the native threw himself out of the way, the bullets slamming harmlessly into the floor. The mudokon (Youknowwho) glared at her and shouted,
"What was that about? Wait... no, typical slig behaviour. Forget the last question. Instead, why would I try to do anything in a place full of gun carrying, trigger happy, sligs? Which you helpful emphasized."
“Oh yeah?!?” She roared back, “What the hell is with all that creepy damn magic stuff? You think I am stupid enough to let glowing mudokons wander around every which-a-way?!”
The female glanced over at the female Grubb, who looked quite enthusiastic about the aggression, but then a Intern, which had surprisingly un-stiched mouth, spoke,
"Hey, people," It said, crossing its thin arms. "Chill. We don't need to be shredding each other over something as erratic as a glowing mudokon, no offence." It shrugged. "But if you plan on ganging up on that coal-colored brat over there, you have my total support."
“Really?” Cylepso snapped, “Its not like that ‘brat’ has any glowing native tattoos now, does it? What do you think I should do, let it roam around-”
"Are you crazy?" The black-skinned mudokon suddenly hissed at the intern, "If he's a native Odd knows what powers he has. You been living under a rock for 4 years?"
“My point exactly, or have you forgotten Abe?” Cylepso snarled, swinging her gun back up. She suddenly jerked violently as the Vykker (Kirk) fired off a Snuzi, aiming for the tattooed native (Ark) who sprang out of the way.
“Sir!” Cylepso called to him, “Orders?!?”

OOC: I know Cylepso is acting a bit out-of-character (no pun intended) but that’s because she has gone ‘guard’ mode, because she was trained as a slig, no matter how nice she is when relaxed. She is after all, a high ranking slig, so she must be pretty lethal when pissed-off. Though she does get a bit fruity when someone gives her nail-polish XD
Also, she is looking for orders from Kirk, because Vykkers are higher rank then sligs, right?

Out of Coffee: Hell no! I meant IM! D8

BIC:

"Are you crazy?" the obnoxious mudokon snapped, "If he's a native Odd knows what powers he has. You been living under a rock for 4 years?"

Skelter rounded on her. "Was I talking to you, mudokon pop?" She spat. "No! So shut yer mouth! And YOU," she poked the slig (Cylepso) roughly, "Mind yer own buisness! I don't need more freaks talking to me! And besides, i'm not scared of any Abe wanna-be's!"
To make a point, Skelter whipped out her gas launcher. She didn't plan on using it (she didn't even have her gas mask on,) but it looked dangerous anyway. She looked around. 'Where did that glowing freak go?

Dionysia was somewhat distracted by Skelter (who, Dionysia was later pleased to notice when she had time to go over things in her head, failed to notice or react to the mud rushing past her) and so failed to respond to the mud running in her direction until he had yelled something at her and run past. She dove to grab him as he ran through the door but missed him by an inch. Grabbing onto the doorframe to reasert her balance, she chased after him along the corridor...

Meanwhile, Krik was getting into things.
“Sir!” Cylepso called to him, “Orders?!?”
"Get after him!" He yelled madly, "Catch him! What'll happen to you if he attacks the boss?!"

OOC: Man, I just had some chocolate self-saucing pudding…It was good….*drools*
IC:
"Get after him!" The Vykker, Kirk shouted, "Catch him! What'll happen to you if he attacks the boss?!"
Hell, Cylepso knew full-well what would happen. Probably get shipped off to see dear old mum.
She thought idly, ‘Probably cooked me up in a pot and-’
“…And YOU," A voice snapped, followed by a thin finger poking Cylepso, "Mind yer own business! I don't need more freaks talking to me! And besides, I’m not scared of any Abe wanna-be's!"
Cylepso turned with an angry hiss to the Intern, who was armed with a Gas-Launcher.
“What do you think you are going to do with that?” Cylepso said scornfully, tugging at her gas mask, “Doubt you would do much! Now, outta the way!”
With that, the female slig yanked her gun up, jinxed past the Intern and lunged towards the cafeteria doors, her pants clanking heavily.

OOC: If any of you find my username difficult, just call me kaz.

IC: 'Dam it, dam it, dam it.' Ark thought as he glided down the hall. His two month in a swamp gave him the habit of drag/gliding his feet when he ran, it worked on smooth metal surprisingly well.

Looking down the corridor, as he turned a corner, he saw that only a slig (Cylepso) and the female mudokon (Dionysia) were coming from the cafeteria.

'At least it's only a paranoid mudokon, and a dumb slig. Wait is that a female slig? What is with this place? But never mind that now. What I want to know is why, when ever I try to talk to the boss, I end up in situations like these. I blame Teo, dumb shaman.'

Seeing the Mudokon being within pouncing distance, Ark struggled to run faster.

'How is she so fast?'

OOC: sorry for the short post. I was wondering if it was ok that Ark used his tattoos? All they let him do is create a blinding flash, so any character in the area would be seeing spots for a few seconds.

ooc: MM, you live!

AGAIN!!!

Great to see you back dude! Patrick Vykkers left a little while after you slipped into the Time Vortex and Slaveless recently quit due to waning interest, so we were left without medics! Since Zerox (who is still around somewhere, maybe down the back of the sofa) decided to drop Sturg (the meech), we decided Dek and Prae had covertly left Rupture Farms to persue their meech-cloning dreams. Why Dek comes back is up to you.

As for the factory, not much has happened. Sure, a machine in the production lines is on fire and a mud has been mistaken for a native and is now being chased across the ground floor, but nothing exciting's going on. *recalls improbable train crashing through cafeteria wall* The RPG is just peeling out of the mess it suffered from in W@RF 7. Also, Jim's sitting in the lab waiting for a medic, so chip-chop mate.

MEECHSHRYKUL: read the rules or get out.
(moderating is so difficult sometimes *sigh*)
