I don't think 2 was a letdown, introducing a new playablle character amoung other things like better graphics and new weapons, plus the ability to hijack enemy vehicles, but 3 certainly was a huge letdown. You'd think they'd let us see his fucking face at least.

No demo, I'd rent it if you're hesitant. Campaign is the best in the series and Firefight is Horde x Over 9000.

Spore was the greatest dissapointment in gaming I have ever known. I followed that game's progress for four fucking years, and every time it's ETA came within sight, it slipped a season or two ahead. I read the news and saw it lose much of it's awesome potential, and now we're stuck with a good game, rather than the fantastic one it could have been. Maybe I'm just bitter.

Repeat this four times then go into a bunch of underground tunnels to find a floating purple thing and escort it out of the city in a truck for the rest of the game."

My next gen console is now a hundred miles away, so until the unlikely event that I buy a new one/can afford to buy a new one/can risk buying a new once without getting an earful and who-knows-what-else, I've been playing Stranger's Wrath, the first Ultimate Alliance and Impossible Creatures. I'll break out the Jaks and some of my favourite PS1 games if my PS2 still works.

Oh and OANST, yeah I know there is more to Brutal Legend than the section in the demo. Combat was just lacking for me, I know later you get armies to control though. I'll probably end up getting it, just not at release.

I guess the bottom line is this: Schafer is not known for making extraordinarily compelling gameplay. He is known for making extraordinarily compelling story, art, and dialogue that are augmented by the adequate gameplay.
