I agree with some of the above. I dont like this 'spooce'it makes the game unrealistic. Oddworld was a realistic game it had no power-ups and no "coins". there wasnt a health bar, if you got shot that was it, you died,tough luck.But now you can drink SOBe and get your little birdies back!!!! But heres somthings I do like about MO... I like the new 3d style, I also like some of the vendos (blitzpacker,vykker weaps) But I dont like the unrelaistic vendos(expresso,bounce,aquabounce)But I liked the Armor vendos which transformed possesed Interns,Sligs,Bigbros,vykkers into there armored forms BUT!!! OWI SCRAPPED THEM!!!!!! Owi still created a kick ass game but they need to bring back the realism... AND BRING THOSE DAMN MEECHES BACK TOO!!!!

Well I've put off saying this directly to avoid flames but now...who's to say what "Oddworld" and "Oddworldish" is other than the creators?! There have only been two games and they centered around only the first main character. If there had been three or four games prior to Abe's Exoddus that were all like the much darker original Abe's Oddysee then I could see why people were upset but c'mon, I think the humor of Oddworld is a great satire for our world. It sounds like many of you want Oddworld to be this dark depressing serious gothic place where everyone speaks in rhymes...besides Abe did fart in the orignal.

I like the power up vendos but there should be deeper puzzle design like having a limted number to work with instead of unlimted (like in AE). [I'm going to start a thread detailing how I dreamt Abe's powers could work in 3D]

I think I'll reiterate my basic point here, since I think this is what the issue all boils down to: OWI concentrated on making MO realistic in terms of Graphics, rather than in terms of Gameplay. This was a mistake, in my opinion, but it will probably achieve its objective of taking Oddworld to a wider audience, even if it loses some of its early fans along the way...

To me oddworld was started in 2D and had better graphics and atmosphere. From what I have seen I feel that by making it in 3D they lost all of this. My favourite game of the Quintology so far has to be AE.

I don't understand why people think that the game was "rushed". It's been years since Abe's Exoddus, and Munch was begun back then.

I wouldn't call it a rush... but if anything there was a "comprimise" because they couldn't remove some of the PS2 coding which affected things like the load times and the engine that the game was built around.

If that's what you mean as rushing... I tend not to agree on the terminology used. They did have a deadline to meet with the Xbox launch... but remember the game was originally meant to be relased a year earlier with the PS2 launch.

And... I do second the comments of Pilot and Jotch... people do need to get over the SoBe thing... it's done. Well actually it doesn't worry me anyway. It's a positive IMO, as Oddworld has been promoted in a way it hasn't been before.

I think MO was a bit rushed cause alot of the stuff they dumped was really cool.

Although OW did spend alot of time making the game and it shows in the excellent gameplay

I drink a Sobe each day in (Energy if in the morning/afternoon, Power at night)...
Under each Sobe cap it has a few humorous words and I've discovered some that pertain to Oddworld:
SOBE ODD
DRINK WITH ODDITUDE
MUNCH ON THIS

and then there are a bunch of lizard references...

I'd drink SoBe every day if I lived in the US (they should relese it here), I drunk about 3 bottles in the one week I was in California. *yum*

It's very Oddworld from what I know about the philosophy of the series. It symbolises to what extents some companies will go to to get customers. It's like drug dealers who give people free-samples (like with SoBeStorm Brew), exept it's more forcefull.

If Microsoft had a machine like that that forced Xbox contollers into peoples' hands and let them play a few games they might stop bitching about how 'bulky' and 'rubbish' the contoller isn't...hmm...no, best not to advertise the greatness of the Xbox till I pre-order mine...
