Well, it took more than 5 minutes, but, well, here it is...
Well, here it is, the story is closin to an end, there’s gonna be maybe 2 more chapters, so I might as well get on with it, chapter 14, The One Near the End
.
Mica sighed as he looked around. Sligs on legs replaced the crawling sligs that he usually saw, running about, while he worked outside, in this case, chopping wood.
In the last month he’d gone from being the biggest local tourist attraction, to being treated like any other slig, who was just rich enough to have custom fitted pants.
Akko sighed as he looked around. Plain, white assistants clothing, replaced the intricate designs of previous suits, as he held up a tray of scalpels like a table!
In the last month he’d lost everything, his house, his admirers, his position, his power, it was all gone. He would do anything to get revenge on that bloody slig, anything…
The next morning in Vykkos, there was a rumour running around, Akko heard a group talking in a huddle and ducked round a corner to listen. “Yeah, a mad slig, said he hacked his way through the forest, made a completely new path.”
“They said he was bare handed, he left blood everywhere!”
“But that’s impossible!”
“Well, he did it. They’ve closed off the area, won’t let anyone near!”
“Man, he must be a nut, and pretty strong to!”
“Some say he was dragging a slog all the way with him to!”
“What do you think he wants?”
“Odd only knows!”
“HEY!” Shouted someone behind Akko, making him jump so violently that he almost dropped the jellied bladder he was holding! That would have been messy! “What are you doing? You should be in with the surgeons! Your already 48 seconds late!”
Akko ran, but even as he acted as a sink for the surgeons, he kept thinking about the mad slig, who was he? What did he want? Was he really mad?
“Hey, Mica!” Shouted his father, “Have you seen Biggie? Nicou hasn’t and Scrat wouldn’t take a slog to the stone masons! You know how Biggie gets when he sees unfamiliar furniture, he like to mark his territory!”
“I know, Dad, and I haven’t seen him. Maybe he’s gone to the bone yard again.”
But Biggie the slog didn’t come back all day and the only lead they had was that a neighbour had seen a big, muscular slig lead a slog towards the forest, but a long way to the left of the path. But Biggie would never go off with a perfect stranger…
Down at Glucose there was a pandemonium! Sligs with metal legs! What was going on? Was it the beginning signs of planned invasion? There were now nearly as many guards on that part of the wall as there was on the Mudos side. But after several uneventful weeks, 9 scouts were sent out to investigate. 7 came back, telling of guns, saws, and other weapons. A mere 2 came back, telling of how no plans of invasion were laid.
The areas general, General, Dratit, decided to go with the 2, as they were the ones he trusted most, but he knew people wouldn’t be happy if he just lowered security, so he decided to head out there himself, with 8 security guards, “For good measure.”
So President Ted and Queen Tapadoka and 9 security guards “For good measure” Went to their conference hall to discuss matters with the Glukkons and squash the rumours of imminent invasion.
“Sssow, yuw vant awerr hellp in invayding zeze… Mudykons? And vat iss initt forr uss?”
Dratit opened a large box of jewellery, and displayed it to the whole court. A slick smile spread over Queen Tapadoka’s face…
And so, the deal was made. The deal that resulted in the possibly eternal fait of Isla Karna. A deal that meant the fait of the mudokon race fell on to the shoulders of one small, blue mudokon.
Who is the mysterious mad slig? What happened to Biggie? Who is the mysterious blue mudokon? Will I ever shut up? Find out the answer to about 3 of these questions, in the 15th and final installation of, The Oddworld Story…
