Humphrey and Irwin were not homosexual as Vykkers don't have a concept of 'male' and 'female'. All Vykkers are hermaphrodites (they are both male and female in one). This would explain their sexual ambiguity, in particular their campness: they sound like male but behave like females.

However hermaphroditic animals in our world (eg worms) still need two of them to reproduce (one to provide sperm and the other to provide the eggs). Vykkers are self-impregnating (check the oddworld universe if you dont beleive me) but I suppose they still like the companionship of a 'significant other', which would explain Humphrey and Irwin's relationship. I remember a quote from somewhere that described Irwin as a famous scientist and Humphrey as his... "friend"; which sounded a bit suspicious at the time but made sense once I played the game.

ps I wrote some of this stuff in a different thread when people were talking about Humphrey and Irwin's possible homosexuality. Obviously noone read that post as the same people were here discussing the same thing all over again.

I was also hoping to see more Vykkers in it also, but you only saw them via gameplay and at the Auction...and even then they were the same character only from a different angle...

Although I have to admit to not being able to find any reference to them being brothers, not even at vykkerslabs.com. I'll keep looking though. Besides, who says you can't be brothers and friends?

Oh, and they have the same last name. True, it's 'Vykkers', but then 'Person' is a perfectly acceptable human last name, so.

I also seem to remember reading that they were brothers...it would explain the petty squabbles, and competitive attitudes towards eachother.

I think vykkers will make a come back in the next game....just because vykkers labs went down in flames, doesn't mean the entire population is gone....and with that sonar on munch's head, he'd be easy to track, and re capture for Maggie.

I'm sure vykkers are not just scientists...I mean, there was an auctioneer....it wouldn't surprise me if there were many other positions occupied by vykkers....you never know, I guess...

oh...The vykkers are money hungry(everyone knows that) ugly(everyone knows that as well) but they can be quite skilled!
