No, you thinking of 'If humans evolved from apes, why are there still apes?'. Birds evolved from lizards, in particular, dinosaurs. True, between being dinosaurs and being proper birds they would not be classified as either (although I'm sure some nit-picky scientists will try to do that), but those un-classifiable creatures evolved from lizards.
