I dont know if that was a joke DX...if it wasn't then do u have warm tingly feelings when you see those games/items? Do you feel all warm when your with them? Do you hug them and kiss them and tell them you love them?

If it was a joke ignore that.

Actually, I don't have that problem as my boyfriend is as big of an Oddworld fan as I am... in fact Oddworld bought us together.

However, I don't agree that you had to get rid of all of your Oddworld things just because of your girlfriend. Sure, your relationship is important, but you need to respect each other's interests. That is discuss it with her. Explain to her about how much you are an Oddworld fan, while still showing her how much you care for her. Instead of getting rid of all of your Oddworld things, you should have just taken them down, and stored them away. You're done the extreme which wasn't needed.

Also, if you have discussed it with her, she should respect your interest. For example, my boyfriend is interested in classic cars. Although I don't have this interest, I take the time to show interest in it with him... and have even learnt to respect classic cars. And I would never expect him to give this interest up. Yes, he does go on about cars (and Oddworld) at times... but we have an understanding about our interests and it is all fun. The key is sorting any doubts out (i.e. her thinking you like Oddworld more than her), once you have done this you won't have that problem.

On another point... Jacob mentioned that you must have had lots of boyfriends/girlfriends in order to experience love. I disagree here. Both of my parents did not go out with other guys/girls before they met... and they are still happily married over 30 years. There are many others who are like this also. I can see that in some people's cases having previous boyfriends/girlfriends or crushes will allow you to easily identify this feeling. But love is something that really goes in depth... and you can tell this regardless of whether you have one relationship or many.

Abe Babe...

God, i always seem to clash with MoDs when stuff like this comes up.

Abe Babe, u have to understand their age. 15/16 is a young age. School is very brutal at that age and teens have this need to fit in. Sure, her going out with him is nice and all and probably boosts her status abit for having a boyfriend but him likeing OW publicly is a bit embarassing for her. OW is a relativly childish game (Well, upto now it is.) and she probably doesn't want to have ppl secretly think lower of her. Obviously, i dont know him or her so i am basically going on the facts...which i have just remembered are different to what i just stated. So...ahem...try again, she probably wants a relationship that includes love, going to the movies and other stuff, most likely like past ones she has. It is very upsetting to be with someone you care deeply about and to have them not pay any attention to you and just talk about something not of your likeing.

The Love thing, yes, it has happened but it is very rare. Going out with other people is more likely to increase your chances in finding love. Also, it is quite depressing to think about spending the rest of your life with one person from the teenage years. Teen years are basically the years were you should be identifying with yourself and having fun, experimenting and going out with many. Late 20's early 30's is the time for settling down. Most people who think their in love are not and it will crush them when they break up with that person.

Actually I don't consider Oddworld a very childish game... it is actually too "dark" for most kids to play... childish games are those like Pokemon and the Mario games (to give examples).

I think there is a lot more to being a teenager than "schoolyard popularity". I never cared what people thought... in fact I never had a boyfriend in school, and that suited me fine. Sure a lot of people care about status and that... but not everyone does. I'd much rather be my own person than do what everyone else is doing just because it's "cool" or "acceptable".

Also, I wasn't implying that he should not show her care and attention, I was illustrating the fact that for a relationship to be successful one needs to show attention to their partner, but they can also still have their interests... this is where the two involved need to work out things and talk about it. Like when mullock's girlfriend said he likes Oddworld more than her... we don't know what context this was in. If she accused him of this without discussing things... then this is wrong on her part. Both need to work things out.

Another part of a relationship is that both need to be tolerant of the other. You can't "force" a person to change. You need to respect their beliefs and interests. You don't have to agree with them... but you should respect them and not try to give them an ultimatium (sp?). If you truly cared for someone, you'd like them for who they are. That's part of loving someone. Maybe in Molluck's case this is different, as it's a teenage relationship, not a serious one. But that's more the reason to not force the person. If she really cared for him, she shouldn't care if Oddworld is not popular amongst teenagers at their school. Plus if she is only going out with him to "boost her status" as you say... then that's "really" a wrong reason to start a relationship with someone in the first place, regardless of what age one is.

Abe Babe...

Perhaps you should learn to show more respect to an Admin in future. I've seen some questionable spam posts from you also... if you keep it up, I can simply ban you and you will not be able to post again. At least Jacob can have a good discussion without getting all nasty about it... differing opinions make for a discussion.

I think its relativly childish, its got a dark undertone but the colours, gameplay and gamespeak is quite child-like (MO is, not AO or AE...the 1st two aint that childish.)

:

Some people are like this and id rather be like that than like what i am. Not being accepted has caused quite a few suicides, which is a shame. But with the majority of teens they have a "need" to be accepted, hence why most teen programmes (Byker Grove, Grange Hill) and teen documentaries (Teen Species) focus around the popularity point and the need for teens to be socially accepted.

:
Another part of a relationship is that both need to be tolerant of the other. You can't "force" a person to change. You need to respect their beliefs and interests. You don't have to agree with them... but you should respect them and not try to give them an ultimatium (sp?). If you truly cared for someone, you'd like them for who they are. I totally agree with this. I usually make a joke about things like this, you have to know me quite well to get it though. Its basically about me marrying a really butch, masculine woman who breaks wind and finds it funny and watches football. She's basically be the "man" of the house while i'd be the "woman" who is really feminine and finds breaking wind in public repulsive and who would prefare to watch a good Soap than football anyday. Basically Mollucks in a teen relationship and although teen relationships last longer than younger relationships its inevitable that they'll break up. 18+ is when the longer lasting relationships start. However, a tip; Dont get too attached at this early age...it'll destroy you when u break up.

Jacob is back and once again every topic he visits turns into a battle to find out who is the most mature member with the best life. Thanks Jacob.

C'mon people give it a rest. Why does everyone care so much about eveyone elses views on life. I for one would love to give you people a piece of my mind but for the sake of these forums I won't. We are here to talk about Oddworld, not sex and maturity.

I can see what you're saying, Khanz, but it does not actually sound like a contest, more like a conversation with different views and ethics. Sure, they've disagreed on a few things, but they do it curteously.

You know the funny thing is ... I agree with most of what you say Jacob! Although our views are different, I agree with your view that there are people who care about social status, it's just the way things are... so there's nothing more to say ... other than ... thanks for a good short discussion!

Hee! You weren't here when Jacob was a newbie to the forums....there were insults being hurled [constantly] and he used shorthand. *shudders*

Now, he's one of my 'favourite' forumites. He does like a good debate, and he makes his opinion[s] known...But he usually does so in a fairly tactful manner, and is always open to the opinion[s] of others. [for the most part, anyway.] So, Khanz, ease off.

Is it? Munch's Oddysee is a mind-numbingly childish game. No child I know likes the Abe's games. I don't think it has anything to do with darkness I think it's because the controls didn't really seem 'fluid' enough to really be childish.
