In so far as I understand it, that ugly thing that everyone is talking about is what mugs were going to look like - like a "first draft" - but OWI since changed their mind and now they look like the little presonal photo someone posted above. Nobody outside OWI knows what old Skillya looks like yet (*shrugs* Maybe even they haven't decided, yet - that could be why we haven't seen a picture. But I doubt that).

Id say that the so called "sligqueen picture" that was posted earlier in this topic, looks quite like a ant queen (roughly). And nayby shes laying very smal eggs. Look at munch for an example, hes kinda big but they have tiny eggs like frogs. Im not saying that the sligs are born that way seeing that there not anfibius. Butt heck, they might be hatched from smal eggs.

They describe Skillya as a very big thing...
I don't think it's possible that the thing can be realy big they can walk on those legs if she is heavy

i think its the slig quuen cus its got mech pants, kinda hunchs a little (like a slig) and also has a sort of mask. as for the symbol, i think it is a picture of the front of her or i think it looks a little like the pic that is in AE (2 sligs heads together, mostly seen in slig barracks)as for the eggs, it might take off the mechanical pants to lay them or it maybe lays them into the pants

I believe it isnt anything on oddworld, i believe it was a slig in early development but then they changed them. But im probably wrong

I'd been looking for this in my collection for a couple of days, and have no idea where it originated from... but here is a very "poor quality" of the original mug concept which is labelled as such.

Maybe the slig queen doesn't lay eggs. Ever think about that? this is a cool but desgusting idea. Maybe the slig queen pukes up a baby slig. The baby slig would come puking out of the the mouth of the slig queen and the baby would be this slimy desgusting pod that when it lands on the ground it starts to grow into a slig really fast. After the slig is fully grown some kind of crain picks up the new slig and drops the slig into a set of mechanical pants. When that is finnished the slig then recieves his mask. After the slig is dressed he recieves his gun and he goes and lines up to be taken to a factory to police it. Kind of like a slig asembly line. Flying sligs would be processed in a similar fashion. As for Big bros they are special. After the Slig queen pukes up anouther slig it is taken to a nursery to be treated and pumped with steroids after that a crain picks the big Bro and drops him into a set of Big Bro pants. Then he recieves his mask and weapon and gets transfered to a factory. The slig birthing complex could be runned by Vykkers. Because of the steroids.

According to OWI (well, what I've managed to gather from reading stuff on the main site) sligs are "born" as grubs (although I like "sliglet" better.

It appears to be a vykker-slig mix. Notice the blades in the tale thing, and also notice the pinchers on the face...very VERY vykkerish. but the pants, trademark leather, and pure ugliness say slig. Now, lets consider what we know of at the moment that could be a slig-vykker hibrid. OR a ugly-robopantsguy-with-dangerous-weapons-and-a-short-temper guy mixed with some genetic technology and the kind of special little additions that only the sick bastards at a certain flying laboratory could think up. THAT'S RIGHT! you have a big-bro slig. Ugly, lethal: the perfect mesh of danger and design

Meetle, Mug, ah, if the story could be changed as quick as it was, then you know that the guys at OWI didnt give a **** as to what the name was at the time. I doubt that they find so much importants in a protoype name anyway. I figure that meetle and/or mug were just good names for another idea that the guys had.

And as for it being a future queen...I doubt it. But i DO think that its attributes may carry over into the final look of skylla.

But on a side note, i would like to mention a lil idea i had the other day as to the glukkon queen thing picture. Sure, weve noticed her face's similarities to many sculpturesque things on oddworld (trains, pillars, buildings) and i think that OWI will probably keep the face that she has and probably even the body, but i find that her head, arms, and abdomin will be toned down to about the size of a glukkon's. WHY? you ask. well, first, we DO know what sam looks like from compiled pictures. She has the mudokon-sized head, arms, and abdomin, much like my description above. Second, how the hell are munch's lungs gonna be any substitute for the behemoth in the picture!?

I think that we can gather SOME information on the queens from all of the pictures that have been given out, but in all, these give us very lil of an idea of what the queens will actually look like.

Since this post is so interesting, I think I'll help a little..

Yes, that is Skillya the Slig Queen. Like a slig, she wears pants.. but her face? On something about Dear Alf, Crig made a statement that sligs are UGLY without their masks.. Skillya probably couldn't fit one on.. And that is why. The only difference seems to be that regular sligs have tentacles around their mouths.. as for egglaying, she probably has to get out of her pants to do such a thing.

I seriously doubt Skylla wears pants of any sort IMO, maybe we will get to see a pic of her as they work on ME...

Oh and...my interpentation(sp) of what sliglets look like..(Hey Teal...who coined that term first? I don't remember...though I am pretty sure I was the first to use that term in fic *grins*)

Hm... *thinks* I coined the term, I think, in Pinkhaired's "Oddworld Chibis" topic on the old board. We were trying to think what the babies of all the different Odd-species were all called, and I suggested Sliglet (as it sounded nicer than "Grub")...

Seeing as Skillya is as big as a house (as Xavier has said countless times before, but no-one seems to listen to him) and likely has a massive egg-producing part of her anatomy, I don't see how spindly little pants like them would support her bulk. Ever. Besides, who says the wearing of pants to aid in locomotion is a purely slig thing to do? Notice that creature doesn't appear to have either legs or arms (although it looks vaguely like it's had it's arms cut off, by what that thing it's wearing looks like) - meaning it'd be too slow to be in any way remotely threatening, as so long as they didn't get too close to that tail mudokons would be able to dodge it easily. Just because it wears vaguely slig-like pants does not make it a slig.

So, to repeat what's been said before but I'll say it again, that's not Skillya. We've not seen any pictures of her. According to the picture that is a meetle/mug - presumably a first draft that they changed later on as it didn't fit with what they wanted to be able to do with it (it says so at the bottom of it, if you look). (Hm - looking at the picture, does it have the date as September 98? If so, when did AO come out, again? Before that, wasn't it (I only got into it when I got to Uni, in 1999)? So it can't be what sligs were originally going to look like.)

It must've come out earlier than that, because Spyro The Dragon was released in Winter 1998, and I remember reading that Spyro and AE were released about the same time.

Heck, as long as I'm making multiple entries at once like a moron, here's another thought- perhaps it's another species entirely, not a maimed or engineered member of anything we know already. There are already, what, 7 sentient races on Oddworld (Counting Fuzzles but not Paramites)? And that's just on one continent! MO wasted no time in introducing four entirely new ones right off the bat- Gabbits, Vykkers, Interns and Fuzzles. It could turn out that a number of new talking species are introduced per new title edition.

Besides, they were at least valid questions, not something like, say, "Don't spam"

As for answers... we know Skillya is the only slig queen at the moment from information off the official OI site - we haven't actually seen her (in game or otherwise) yet. As the queens are "as big as houses" (or bigger, depends how big your house is) there wouldn't be a lot of point in posessing them, unless you want to lay on the floor like a sack of lard all day tickles your fancy... (Of course, they could make orders, I was just being stupid...

)

Mugs and Meetles were creatures that were going to be introduced to the game-world (or game-ecosystem

) in MO, but for whatever reason (time constraints etc) OI dropped them from the final game.

And as for new species, you missed a couple.

Meeps, for example... (I'm sure someone will come along and list a few more, they usually do...).
