Munch's Oddysee was a bad game. It wasn't just a bad Oddworld game, it was a bad game altogether,
First, the atmosphere. This was a huge step down from the atmospheres of the previous two games. They were dark, not overly cartoony. I'm not saying there was no humor elements, but the ones that were there worked well and were actually funny. MO does not give me a sense of dread when I play it and that's mostly due to the health bar bullshit, although on the other hand, it was a 3D game, and one hit kills would be a pain in the arse.
The level design. Half the levels in MO look exactly the same, there was nowhere near as many puzzle elements in the levels and it was far too easy. Most of the levels involved picking up Mudokons and running through some sligs whilst trying not to get shot, the places looked crap, and the levels were shit.
Another reason is the creatures. I've said before that the creature design in MO was bad. I'm not saying they all are, but think about it. Meeps, what the fuck were they all about? One leg? And fuzzles, they were just pathetic, a pointless addition to the game and they made no sense. Gabbits were pretty stupid, too. Also, the Glukkon class thing wasn't bad, until they got to that Gluk Star bullshit, and LuLu took away from everything that were supposed to make Glukkons Glukkons. It was incredibly stupid.
Also, the controls, the controls were not awful, but bad. And the graphics have already been mentioned, and they were pathetic, everything was extremely bland. Don't even get me started on the sound design...
