I don't think world peace is impossible. Like I said, in the sense of demilitarization, it's not out of reach. I just don't see how just acknowledging it as a possibility makes any difference in the long run. Affirmative action has to be taken, and a lot of it at that. How many of you can claim to be an active member of an underground political movement? To have taken part of a protest, large or small, for reasons other than 'ololprotest. i am make difrence'? How many of you are actually aware of what goes on between international governing bodies and big businesses? Of the above, I've only taken part in one, and for dubious reasons at that.

You'll argue that you don't need to be involved in such things to make a difference, but yes, you do. Ultimately, every single person that is "aware" of these issues has to be involved in something to even slightly tip the scale. Saying "Hey I care!" hardly justifies a lack of actual action.

You gotta go past the impossible and kick reason to the curb.

Stick to your crazy guns.

And that kind of thinking is what causes student riots, which for the record, are only counterproductive.

G20 does nothing, and for the record, I don't think they've come to a consensus about anything since it first started. It's a good stage for protest, but I went downtown personally to see what rallies were being held, and they were all highly unimpressive.

There was one group who dressed as clowns and floated down the Ohio river in bathtubs though. Pretty fucking awesome.

I am part of an underground political movement. Our manifesto is to force the most moronic aspects of the world on everyone to ridiculous extremes. For example, our policy on gun control is that everyone should be forced to own at least one hundred guns, which they will be required by law to carry on their person at all times. Tax benefits for successful concealment.

The moment you decide which goals are possible and which are not, you limit your aspirations. It's a herculean task that we are unlikely to live to see completed. But we have to try so that others will. And of course, ever step closer to world peace, ultimately possible or not, improves the world.
Do you at least concede that deciding which goals are possible and which are not is at least a step ahead of not having the goal at all?

I'm actively studying Marxism, I'd say that makes me pretty subversive, I just don't join any protests or protest groups on campus because to be frank they're all a bunch of stupid naive little tosspots.

Explain this group of yours. I don't see what point this makes or how it benefits a certain cause. Or is your entire group just dedicated to pointing out the irony and fallibility of certain statutes?

If circumstances can change to make it possible, it was always possible. Changing the circumstances is just another thing to do on the way.

But you can't always anticipate what will happen in the future. As a child, I would never have guessed quite how much the internet would change my life. As an adult, I never would have anticipated how the fear of terrorism and two wars in the Middle East would change the entire world.

It's possible you did figure these things out in advance. I apologise for only having human-level intelligence and foresight.

The best route to world peace is for all countries to become dependent on each other, and I don't just mean financially.
It would be a grudging kind of peace, but hey.

Of course. Why wouldn't it be?

Look at England / America. Are we having civil wars? No. Are we mass rioting? No.
World Peace will become a reality in the near future.

To elaborate; War is expensive and time-consuming. Think about how Iraq and Afghanistan could improve themselves if they spent their money on improving their land.

and what... embrace american bombs weaponless... (ok... that sounded kind of hateful from me, i do not know all the facts involving that war so i'll stop there)
That statement pissed me off more because I'm from serbia and i witnessed "Merciful Angel" intervention america did in my country. Again i do not want to start wining about something that took place ten years ago... my point here is that america is not "utopia" as alex just said...

Couching it in flowery language doesn't change that what you just said was; look at us White countries, we don't make war or riot (both of which is completely untrue btw). Be more like us!

Not only does this read as outright prejudice, but is a testament to just how little you know about how the world works. Regardless of how 'peaceful' the people appear to be, you're still living in a militarized country. China is one of the big 'threats' at the moment, and they aren't cool with our whole regime of "Well we wont give up our nukes, but you should totally give up yours. That way everyone's happy!"

I don't think his intention was to sound prejudice at all. You can't read that far into Alex's posts.
