Very interesting indeed. In my imagination, Citizen Siege was never this dark, which is very refreshing to know that I was underestimating that tone. It makes me more intrigued on how exactly this will turn out, and luckily, it is only a little more than a year before Wage Wars will be coming out. I'm even more interested on how much the game will resemble the concept art we see here.

Just something to add, do you guys think that the woman in the first to the left image is the same one in the third thumbnail?

My guess is that since that these images are from a book, in which would mean that if Max or Xavier, it would sort of like stealing or copying images without permission, onto a website for everyone and anyone to see for the purpose of being seen.

Must have missed this thread.

Hey, thanks for sharing!
It seems like something promising is going on. Though, I expected more odd creatures than pure humans. But anyway, I really can imagine this world's future like that... so it's good! Kinda. You know...

That's what they are

These were produced before any CG work began, back when they were pitching the film to prospective studios.

This is just awesome Alcar....it's incredible you guys would go to such depths of buying around pitch related books and scanning them for our spoling pleasures . I think we practically have the plot of the movie in our hands.

I really love the color threatment they gave to the images, somehow it just puts them in the perfect balance right between sci-fi and 7 o' clock news....the plot looks pretty good and the ambience looks quite engaging, without completely losing that trademark OWI creativity we all know and love!.

PS:Alcar, what exactly is this "design" book about? is it some kind of introductory book to good design that will sell? or is it just a collection of reallly kewl and rad picz for shiznit?

Also.....WHY exactly was the text irrelevant? hmmm given how sparse the actual game news are I'd prefer to have ANY sort of information no matter how cryptic, so that I have the option to ignore it OR spent countless hours trying to make sense out of all the crazyness . what kind of information exactly does the missing text have?

CZ pitch images tell a story if you read them as a comic

Pitches are designed to make uncreative types understand a very creative and engaging story, so dont just take the order of the pitch pics as random, they tell a story, they MUST if they succesfully landed Lorne a deal!. However, dont focus on minute things such as the gear of the guards or whatnot, what the pitch does is tell the basic story very roughly but very clearly, so the basic story is what you must focus when reading them!

Presumably, the pitch is much improved by Lorne's in-person explanation, but the pics are STILL the main form of comunication in a pitch, so if a bunch of uncreative types can understand the story with Lorne's aid, a little of creativity while reading them should give us a good idea of what goes on in the movie

Now, let's look at the way they were presented

EDIT: ugh...quote got fuxored

Now, we have 4 columns and one pic that was singled out from each of them
1- 8949 8941
2- 8950 8942
3- 8951 8943
4- 8952 8944

See? Each column of pictures tells a part of the story, according to traditional plot structure it should be:

1-Introduction

2-setting up of conflict and escalation to central conflict

3-gradual resolution of conflict and Climax

4-tying up lose ends and conclusion.

Now, the pictures that were singled out probably represent the key part of each stage of the story; the central emotional core of each section ; the main twists.

So read them all in order, try to think of them as a comic, and know that the pictures that were singled out are probably the most important plot points...

I could blurt out my own interpretations but I'd rather allow you guys to give it your own jab, and then see if mine is any good at all

...so come on and tell me how you guys think CS will play out =D hopefully if we throw all out brain mass into one vant and then brainstorm it together we can get pretty darned close ;p

Threads merged, because it’s the same topic. Hence an unintentional double post from caracal.

First of all, Alcar has not explained the context of these pictures. In the book (which is a collection of interviews with game develops about all sorts of game development issues), the images are in the form of slides within a PowerPoint presentation, hence the columns that are actually just the slide thumbnails. The presentation contains 124 slides. Respectively, Alcar’s columns show slides 3–7, 8–12, 22–28, and 107–111 (excluding 108 which is just unreadable text), so most of the story is unrepresented in the pictures we have.

These four pictures in particular haven’t been selected because they are of great significance to the plot, they have been chosen because they will be of great interest to members of the public without giving away anything Lorne wants to keep hushed for now. The thumbnail columns are included in the book only because they are the slides adjacent to the featured four, Lorne was presumably too busy to get the original scans and just took photos of his screen (you can see his computer monitor and desk), and Iain Simons didn’t crop the concept art like Alcar has.

It’s like I said earlier:
:
…these are crops of screen captures of a PDF file of scans of prints of photos of a screen of slideshow thumbnails of scans of the original paintings.
The irrelevant text, if you really want to find meaning in it, is for the second picture ‘A different place…’, and for the third ‘For players…/The War is real!’
