Abe sort of has a 'snout' above his mouth, it's like a lump thing, perhaps this is his nose, and he might have tiny nostrils on it or none at all.

Eh, not really, since it's only showing the Mudokon from the side. Plus, it isn't very detailed.

You don't need a nose to breath. I was unable to breath through my nose till I was nine years old (I had an operation to cure this problem). I managed to stay alive for nine years, even if I couldn't smell anything.

So I'm guessing he breaths through his mouth.

Mudokons do have nostrils. I saw them on one of the Mudokon's skull, which are right above their eyes. These can be seen in the copyright images of AE, right before the game begins. Didn't you see the skeletons?

They're right above the eyes? That is definately strange, I wonder how they sniff, they'd probably do what we do to raise our eye brows, weird! '.'

If the mudokons have their nostrils above their eyes, then their skulls must be similar to the ratz. It's still odd that their nostrils aren't visible at all.

Perhaps skin covers them and when they are used for smelling they open up, a bit like how fish gills work, sort of...

I doubt it, since we would have probably noticed that somewhere along the line.

I guess it's one of the mysteries of Oddworld, and it probably won't be that important in future, unless OWI show how Abe breaths in a future movie/game.
