If you go on google you can type in oddworld on Xbox 360 to have proof that Munch' Oddysee will be on the 360, Im still not sure about Stranger's Wrath though, I'm trying to find some info.

And used, can you just stop?

Yeah but they say at the bottom that the list is not complete without Munch's Oddysee.

It would be downright idiotic not to make the 360 backwards compatible. I had been planning on aquiring one for Christmas. Due to lack of backwards compatablitiy I'm waiting until my preferred collection: Beyond Good and Evil, Munch, Stranger etc. becomes accessible on the thing.

Microsoft don't seem to have much method to their madness either: Barbie horse adventures is on the list, yet Morrowind, a platinum game with numerous awards is absent: if it's because they're trying to cater for niches, how many little girls with an interest in Barbie do they really think are going to want to buy an Xbow360 of all things? At least titles such as Beyond good and Evil and Strangers Wrath, although they can't have sold very many more than Barbie: Horse adventures, have their fans.

Also, note this text near the top of the list of games in Xavier's link: 'A software emulator is required for each original Xbox game you play on your Xbox 360â„¢ console.'
As far as I know, you must

(a) Have Xbox live to download said emulator (that was in an article in OXM I think...)

(b) Have a game on the above list

Aren't Microsoft wise? *rolls eyes* Whatever they do with their two system thing-ma-bob, I can't see an excess number of already Xbox owners purchasing it until backwards compatability becomes more practical. Yes, the Xbox fanboys will likely parade about the streets proclaming their new beauty, but whatever Microsoft say about new titles making the current selection unimportant (I'm sure I've seen it somewhere!), I'm pretty sure that a lot of people are disgruntled with this impracticality.

the emulator will be available on Xbox.com
you'll be able to burn it on a cd and then put the cd in your 360

Scrab Watcher you're missing the point; Barbie: Horse Adventures is a tiny, simple game and is thus easy to emulate. Morrowind is a freakishly complicated game and is thus freakishly complicated to emulate.

It will be a major loss for me if Stranger is left out. My Xbox was recently stolen, and I don't want to buy a new one just to play the non-compatible games.

There were some complicated games on that list, were there not? And I'd think that if Morrowind was one of the highest-selling games, then it would be included. But yeah, you're probably right.

True, Munch's Oddysee and Stranger's Wrath would be difficult to emulate as well. Man I really hope they make the list!

To clear things up: if a game is to be backwards compatible on the 360, the DEVELOPERS (ie: Oddworld inhabitants) must actually re-code it and then pass on the re-coded....stuff to MS, seeing as OI is out at the moment that is probably why it isn't backwards compatible.

90% of the games on the backwards compatibility list suck. I'm seriously wondering where the hell they got some of these games. I've never even heard of a some of them.

I can literally play ONE of my Xbox games on the 360... Halo 2. They better be doing some serious downloads after the launch.

I will play Sonic Mega Collection on my 360, dammit.

Seriously, they have all crappy games! They better put Munch's Oddysee and Stranger's Wrath on that list or I will have no reason to buy a 360!

I think they choose the games that have sold well. On the last link Oddguy posted it mentioned MO (and Jetset radio future?), but not SW, and probably MO sold more becuase it was a launch game, as for SW we could say EA haven't done a very good job of it. And mabey that's why Barbie is on there, many young girls like Barbie and the colour pink. So when the Crazy Frog Racing game is released, it may be on the list (If it's released on Xbox that is) That's my guess.

Lightinfantry, If what you say is true then this may be a bit worrying Unless Lorne hires programers.

Sorry to hear that, but how did someone manage to steal such a big box? Mabey your mother hidded, thats what happend to me once. Well atleast you have your very good reason for OW games to be compatible on 360.

Can you see MS recoding all those games? The developers (if they want to have their games on the 360) must recode it and submit it to MS.

Hey, I was at Target today and the 360 was there for display and I got to play it!
It comes out tomorrow(Nov. 22nd)!
This guy that worked there said that it is 299.00$ for a console, controller and Xbox live. Then he said it is 399.00$ for all of the above and a hardrive, that dvd thing and a few other things. He mentioned that you can play any normal xbox game with the hardrive, but if you dont have it you cant play any.
Wierd huh? Do you guys think this is true, Do you think you really do need the hardrive and that you can play all xbox1 games with it???

So your only reason to buy a 360 was so that you could play games that would work on your Xbox? Seems like a waste to me.

Anyway, I'm sincerely hoping they get a Stranger's Wrath emulator going, but with OWI out o' business, that seems doubtful.

Of course you need a hard drive to play the original Xbox games. They're all programmed to use the internal drive.

OFF-TOPIC: If you don't buy the system with a drive, can you use any USB harddrive?

Kimon my Xbox broke a while ago plus the 360 is way better.
And Oddworld Inhabitants is NOT out of buisness, so where have YOU been?

It's not much better if you're only going to use it for old games. Def not worht the extra 250$.

And NDW, I have no clue. That'd be a clever loophole, though.
