Microsoft announced that they are making a downloadable emulator so that certain Xbox games (Halo 2 included) will be playable on the 360.

No, NOT problem solved. The best games? What you call 'best' is just subject to opinion. What Microsoft call best is probably Halo 1, Halo 2 and perhaps one other platnium title.

This makes me feel very uneasy.

I'm sure Microsofts idea of 'best games' is games that had good sales, was popular and was Live Enabled because most games that didn't have any of those values wasn't good in the eyes of Microsoft and perhaps some people aswell.

But yes what you call 'best' is just a matter of opinion and i'm eager to see the list of games that are going to be compatible and then i'll decide if i should be let down or joyess.

You don't know that, so don't even pretend like you do. All they're saying is "top games", and knowing Microsoft those were probably very carefully chosen words. They used them so to remain flexible. If they say all games will be backwards compatible, and they come up short, there will be hell to pay. In this case they can deliver almost anything while keeping there integrity intact.

The only game I'm really worried about losing is Stranger's Wrath, but I've played that to death, so as long as the development team formerly know as Oddworld Inhabitants makes a game for the 360, I'll be set.

I'd miss Morrowind too, but that's being replaced. Awww, yeah.

I'm sure all the Platinum hits will be backwards compatible but the smart marketing move would just to make all of them, and allow you to somehow transfer your old xbox harddrive saves and memory files onto the new 360. I know if they did that I'd buy one in a heart beat.
