2: To the person who drew the Female Steef (Staif?) i like it but(/)

3: Something about Stranger/Steef's biology is just awsome. from His trot to his cater to his jump. I LOVED the 4legged small-normal jump. It was just awsomeness. WHY DON'T THESE THINGS EXIST?

4: Does the Oddworld Art book have scetchs on the conceptualiztion of Steef or just a bunch of the finished product. I actually liked some of the original steef pics with the bigger lower half and the Antlers that grew from the neck/shoulder area.

5: Samurai-Armor Steef bubling in brain

6: female deer-like MYSTIC steef with maybe a mohawk/mane braded.(and an ankle bracelet. And thinner forearms.

I did a few more sketches... based on the premise that Steef are something like bighorn. The males can grow a full curl but the females only ever grow a half curl. Therefore female steef would likely be able to grow a full curl, but not the double curl of males.

BTW, I think the forearms have to be thick on the females as well, they're still Steef after all.

If you do a google image search for steef oddworld you will find some of the original scetch concepts for steef.

One of them have him growing horns out of neck or shoulder or inbetwean neck and sjoulder area.

Also I see your sketchs are getting better. I really like them. I Iike the cheak bones in the last one. I think that the face would definitely be the most challenging part.I guess you could start with an exact copy of steefs face and then the face of a lion and then look at a picture of a lioness and see some of the differneces and gofrom there.

Also do female gorrillas have thinner forearms?

I liked the forarms in tha last picture too. And the Centar lower half.

I like picturing Steef with bows and arrows too for some reason. And also samurai armor for some reason.

Both examples of steefs we have oin the gam hid their lower half so maybe wild steef have moredeveloped and larger lower halfs.

Also Stranger might be a teenager and the old steef might have been very old and parasited into being smalll, so they may normally be bigger.

On a side note I am starting to REALLY want Oddworld 1st 10 years art book...

The faces of the Steef are quite a bit different then lion faces. Lions tend to have elongated faces, whereas the Steef seem to have a skull structure similar to our own, but influenced by gorillas and lions. Steef faces are actually oval, similar to ours, with a more prominent snout and less prominant chin. Their snouts are not as prominant as a lions, nor as flat as ours, so it's hard to use either as a model.

With drawing the Steef faces, I started with the same general shape as the oddworld Steef and tweaked some details. With the last one I wanted to go for something a bit more Native American, so I gave her a longer snout. I assume every steef face won't be identical.

Female gorrillas are thinner over all, about half the size of males. I assume Steef are similar, with a sexual dichotomy that has larger males (like the majority of mammals).

BTW, thanks for the kind words. It takes me a bit of time to get comfortable drawing a new critter.

Even though you could argue that there are many more super-species *individuals* on our planet then mammals.

- the way I read it, evolution (if you believe in it) has meant most land animals share a similar means of reproducing their species, since most are descended from the same lobe-finned fish. Hence, mammals, birds, lizards and what have you reproduce themselves by way of with internal fertilisation, etc. If you go further, there is a male-female bias to nature - all animal species have males and females, since they descended from the same organism which just so happened to have males and females. Hence "dominant model".

...and plants are just peculiar.

I still think the little teenytiny lower body of the steef is out-of-proportion, but hey.

Indeed, they may not be feminine types, but I would hate for them to be alluring or kickass creatures. That's simply clichéd. I trust OWI to handle them well, though... so to speak.

Jo' Mamma is an Outlaw, not a Wolvark. Outlaws are a species. Tragically, Outlaw seems to be the name of their species, which simply sucks. And is Frayda Evryting a female? Frayda and the Native Resistence Leader have separate profiles on the official site, remember...

Further, why are the wolvarks isolated in western mudos? Why aren't they seen among the glukkons?

Why aren't Interns or Slegs seen amongst the Glukkons? The Magog Cartel already has Sligs, and Wolvarks are probably ‘owned’ by the Oktigi family. They might not just be isolated to Western Mudos - we haven't seen the extent to which industrial territory reaches. Wolvarks in Stranger's Wrath is just cool, though, because it gives them an Iraq desert-like environment to perform friendly fire in.

After reading this thread, and another where there was much conjecture as to:

1 Why Stranger was " kind of scrawny for a steef "

2 Why Stranger has little resemblance to the steefs that have the misfortune
of meeting up with Mr. Sekto (ie. pronounced set of choopres and the
big-honking-ass horns).

So my question is(cringe, cringe)

I always imagined Stranger as a Centaur, but it always bugged me how his lower half is so out of proportion, but again it could be because hes just too young and hasn't developed.

Actually, if you think about it, a centaur's biology doesn't make much sense. Its the torso of a man put where the head of a horse should be. Making it a creature with two torsos. A steef makes more sense than that, because the extra torso has been taken out of the equation. If you were going to see a half-man, half-horse creature, the bottom part probably would look more like a Steef than a traditional Centaur.

Yeah, but he still has three pairs of limbs. A satyr is much more logical as they only have the bottom half (rather than whole body of a goat).

Have you any idea how hard it is to googleimage to find a picture of a satyr without explicit genitalia showing?

- that's because they were supposedly all intensely sexual beings. *shrugs* Can't say I get excited by hairy goat-men, but apparently some did...
