I wasn't sure what I wanted to be until that test told me I'm Hades. Cool, lord o' the underworld and all that jazz. Though I'm not sure if he has Lucifer's seduction and soul-purchasing skills which would also be handy.

Yeah, he has one. Thor is the good of thunder in the Norse mythology. He creates lightning bolts with his hammer, I think.

Anubis. Not for all the propoganda Satan business, Anubis is actually a rather nice fellow. He's the God of Death, but in a good way. He judges you to see if your heart weighs as much as a feather.
Yeah I like Anubis too I think I'd be a girl version of him "Jewel" white with black markings, blue eyes and the symbol of life as a pendant.

No, Anubis deals with corpes and is a bit morbid... not the god of death or whatever, he dries up bodies. He does way the heart with a feather, but he dosn't condem to death. Thats Seti's business.

I would so be Cthulhu. Because he dun up and drive people mad just by looking at them. Actually, I'd rather be not dead but dreaming. Lets go with Hastur, the mans name by word condems cultists who say it do death. Bring them bodies from the edge of the cliff!

Yes, unlike most hollywood movies try to broadcast. Ahem, *cough*THE MUMMY*cough*.
That's what I was, uh, intending to say, yes. I just forgot almost everything from my Egyptian studies...

Yeah, study egypt, then say that again. Sounds like a cool character, but definatley not fitting to the actual Anubis thang. Sorry.

I would probably want to be Cthulhu or the Great Red Dragon. Cthulhu because of the books by H.P Lovecraft and I love the Great Red Dragon art by William Blake.

"Tiger, tiger, burning bright,
In the forest of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?"

That William Blake? Who was this guy?

It's not supposed to rhyme. Awesome poetry needn't rhyme. I wish I knew the rest of it, but that's all anyone remembers. And I know he spells tiger with a y somehow . . . but it looks stupid written out.

Anyway, Marching Mud, is it the same William Blake that wrote that poem?

And who is this Cthulhu? I know I've heard the name before. I don't know anything about him except that his name is SO awesome. Is he an African god?

I'm not sure if that poem is William Blake, I haven't read that poem before. I'd have to read Lovecrafts book again, all I remember is that I liked Cthulhu when I read that book (which was ages ago).

Cthulhu is an Alien god who lies Dead but Dreaming off the coast of Massachuesetts (around the area I live in) in the city of Ryleh, which was constructed by his Cultist and then sunk during the Iceage. Hastur is his brother who is an Outer God, making him more powerful than Cthulhu who is a Great Old One. Hastur lies off the coast of Brazil and has to deal with constant Shan attacks on his Cultists towns.

In short, Cthulhu is a creature who has the head of a squid, body of a man and wings of a dragon, and is often described as a sickly green. He comes from out of dimension and lives to drive man insane and then slowly eat everyone on earth, he promises to eat his cultists last after they bring him about.

By the way, Cthulhu is a weaker god, thats why I chose Hastur. Also, just for reference, the most powerful is Azathoth, the Idiot Chaos, whom made the universe. He's also asleep, and if he ever wakes up he will destroy everything in exsistance.

So the texts say...

PS - Cthulhu is said KA-TUL-WHO, but his name cannot be pronouced by Human speach organs, and so he is refered as thus.

Interesting theory. Well it's an awesome poem no matter how you pronounce symmetry.

I knew it! Thanks for the description of Cthulhu, Abe's Son! Now I know that he did, indeed, make an appearance in several episodes of Freakazoid! This whole time I've been thinking "Every time I hear that name I think of that one guy from Freakazoid, but naw, it couldn't be", but it is! They might have changed the name in the cartoon, but it was definitely an homage to Cthulhu. So hilarious.

I did the test, and according to the test I am Loke (Loki), the sneaky trickster who can transform into anything he wanted to. And Oden (Odin) doesn't see everyhting, he sacrificed his eye into a well so that he could have all the wisdom in the world.

I forget what it means but it means something. You ALL should read about the Gods of Lovecraftian mythos. Very cool, very...

And yes, he was in Freakazoid, but in humanoid form. Aswell as many other cartoons, and the words in army of darkness "Clatu Verata Nictu" were in a comic book but were taken from At the Mountains of Madness.

Mythos is more popular than most people know...

I've wanted to read Lovecraft for a while but I don't know where to start. He's just written too much. Is there an order or something?

He didn't write them all, but they all happen in the same time period and within either days of eachother or months, the Dunswhich Horror is good after you've read alot of stuff on the Elder Gods. Google it and just search the net for stuff theres alot. You should start with Call of the Cthulhu, then At the Mountains of Madness, then Dagon. These are all originals. Also look for the Necronomicon if you can find it. But beware, there are real cults out there who really worship these gods... especially Tulzcha, Cthulhu, Yog Sothoth and Dagon, there are actually downs in Brazil that worship Dagon. Tulzcha is found in the states, the Netherlands and alot of activity recently in the UK. Yog Sothoth is found in the states aswell. Lot of scary stuff, even sacrifices...

I read somewhere that HPL used to be rather bemused that some people took his work seriously. Especially those that were convinced he'd written his books after getting his hands on the last surviving copy of the necronomicon (hmmm... started writing necrotelicomnicon. That's what too much Terry Pratchett will do to a lad)

Yes, he actually thought the people were crazy but the cultists thought of him as the next best thing to their god. Because "He saw them First"
