When I first saw this I was shaken but now...well good luck to them.

As long as they don't leave Oddworld behind I suppose I don't mind...but...
:
a world so rich in its own culture and history and life - that too is part of what I love of Oddworld. No matter how deep the political satire, social messages, stunning art and great storytelling, I'm never going to find anything so magical about Earth.
I can't see Earth ever having the same magic as Oddworld. On Oddworld, many of the beautiful things still survive, on Earth, things are pretty much too late.

Remember the first time you gazed at those ancient Mudokon ruins, remember how you marveled at the strange creatures spread before you, remember how you held your breath and then released it as the next portion of the planet was unveiled in all it's glory. That was a big part of Oddworld for me, as much as the criticism of the problems of our world.

Scrab Watcher your making me cry *sniff*, DOn't worry guys as from know Odd Trusting will act like a true member, I do think that this Citzen Seige will end up on the list of Oddworld game that need to be done but I don't think it will intrude on our bountiful Oddworld

Good find oddguy!

Yeah, Citizen Siege may not eventuate in the end. It sounds promising, especially the part about upsetting the US congress, and I'd be stupid not to buy it. Though I do fear they'd take even longer developing games if they did make Citizen Siege.

We have this huge long thread of themes we want in future games and I'm sure that Lorne has his own list. If you read that thread every second one says 'I don't know how they'll work this into Oddworld but..." So this is probably Lorne's way of fitting in his belief system into a game.

PS if the Oz release date is March 4 it would be strangely appropriate. Thats my birthday

Even if they do make citizen siege, big deal. I'm sure we can all wait. Plus it'll probably be really good.

I find it rather interesting that they are creating a new series under the company name Oddworld Inhabitants. The company's name sort of gives it away that all their games are Oddworld based. Though it doesn't mean they can't make other series, and I can't wait to see concepts for the new game - such controversy

Though it does seem weird.

The more I think of it, the more excited I am about this project!

I think the political ideas that lorne gave could be realy well transmitted by a game, and we all know the OWI team has the talent needed to make such games!

I want to know more about!

*is attacked by idea. rubs head. Jumps up ad down*

Hold on...what if it's not literal! I mean...what if they're creating a universe! Not just a futurized Earth. An actual world!

Could be nothing, but you never know...

*is hopeful*

They've already created a universe, an actual world before. That would be nothing special to do again (at least, by comparison).

Besides if a game/book/movie is set in the future of planet earth it has more resonance and meaning than a complete fantasy.

NDW I agree with you, by locating the game on earth the impact on the people is bigger...
they will directly realize it's about them

That'a what I thought when I was first saw it, it's only reson it will be located in our very own planet. It's much easyer for the people to understand what's what.

oh awesome.

I really really like this, I did want to see what Lorne has to say directly to the player, I always felt that OW had it's messages hidden a bit too far in the back, and I sure as hell want to see him upsetting the congressors.

on the other side, I can relate to the whole forum...IMO he should simply drop ALL other side-series if he's gonna do this, he should only have one side series, and that has to be either stranger or citizen siege....

W-what? Oddworld Inhabitants SHOULDNT leave behind Oddworld. They need to continue with their work! They've made great games, especially Stranger's Wrath, and they need to start another one! Just give it some time! :S :'(

Chant with me!
Continue with Oddworld! Continue with Oddworld!

I dont really mind if they branch out into other types of games just as long as they dont completly stop the oddworld series.I would still buy the game knowing it was OI who made it.Mabey if they make an oddworld movie so if there are OI fans upset about about a non oddworld game they still have a movie to look foward to.

Guys... OWI isn't making games themself anymore.
I wouldn't mind a Citizen Siege project on TV...
